Wroxham Reserves had to come back three times to earn a point against Waveney in their final game of the season.

Wroxham included former player of the year Bradley Spooner who was back from his college course in the USA.
The game was played at FDC Open on the 3G pitch. Both teams took time to settle with Marcus Wilkinson prominent for Wroxham although he did try to overdue things and his final cross failed to reach a colleague on several occasions.
Waveney took the lead on 26 minutes with a direct passage of play that saw Matt Wilson on the end of an excellent left wing cross. Wilson rose to firmly head past Hayley Lemmon’s despairing dive into the far corner of the net.
The visitors were looking quite lively at this stage and could have increased their lead. Wroxham’s best effort saw the ball played down the right to Archie Galley whose cross picked out Wilkinson who turned inside onto his weaker right foot to shoot straight at the keeper.
Wroxham kept battling away but went into the interval still one down.
The second half was a much better performance by Wroxham who got themselves back early with a lovely equaliser. Galley beat several opponents before squaring the ball to Wilkinson to slot home. But no sooner had they got themselves back in the game before Waveney regained the lead. Lemmon was off his line when the ball was lost in mid-field allowing Sam Shephard to run on and slide the ball past the static Wroxham keeper.
Wroxham came back again with another fine goal. Spooner as he had done before in his earlier spell with the Yachtsmen, glided freely past two defenders to send a superb shot past James Bergin.
Then sub Lewis Meacham had a good chance to put Wroxham in front but his shot was tipped over for a corner by Bergin.
A shot from Wilson almost crossed the line but Lemmon held on to stop it going in.
As play continued to be quite open Wroxham had the next chance when Shaun Taylor’s shot went just wide. Waveney again countered and regained the lead when Shephard’s shot from an acute angle was parried by Lemmon but still had enough power to cross the line and make the score 2-3.
Next to go close was Keelan Shand shooting across goal but just beyond the far post.
Wroxham had another chance when Ben Johnson’s shot hit the post. This was followed by a free header for Sam Gauntlett which went the wrong side of the post. Tom Rampling’s long range shot also went wide.
With time running out Wroxham deservedly equalised for a 3rd time when Meacham atoned for his earlier miss by side-footing past Bergin in the last minute.
This was no more than Wroxham deserved to end the season in 10th place on 40 points. This was little disappointing after holding down 3rd place for a long period. But it was fitting performance in Damian Didwell’s last game in charge as he has decided to take on the top spot at Blofield. We wish him well.
