A depleted Wroxham squad did well to restrict in form Mulbarton to two goals and following a good second half performance were unlucky not to have nicked a point.

Mulbarton though are a confident side at present and just about deserved their win.
Wroxham had the bar eleven with manager Damian Didwell donning his boots for the first time this season due the unavailability of several players through an Academy trip to Barcelona and injury. Didwell showed he had not lost any of his touch and was quite a handful for the Mulbarton defence throughout the game.
After a slow start Mulbarton were awarded a penalty on 20 minutes when Lemmon was adjudged to have held onto the visitor’s striker Jamie Smith. Smith took the kick himself but Lemmon anticipated correctly diving to his left to make an excellent save.
Mulbarton were piling on the pressure and it was no surprise when they took the lead on 25 minutes. Following a good move, Eliot Altay made strong run at the Wroxham defence before slotting past Lemmon.
Wroxham were being forced to defend but coped comfortably against a well drilled Mulbarton side who included former Yachtsmen, Danny Self, Ben Thompson, John Curtis & Ross Durrant.
Just before the break though there were two defining moments that change the game. On 42 minutes Mulbarton ‘keeper Tom Wright’s clearance went only as far as Danny Roger’s who swept the ball back first time and Wright did well to recover. Almost straightaway they counter attacked and Miles Palmer’s cross found Altay who netted although it appeared to have hit him in the face rather than a direct header. But nevertheless the ball went in the net and Mulbarton were two up which was a little unlucky on Wroxham who had defended well.
Wroxham came out purposely for the second half and almost pulled one back when a long range shot from Lewis Meecham appeared to be heading for the top corner but Wright got across to make a fine save and turn the shot behind.
At the other end a header by Curtis from a free kick was well taken by Lemmon.
Wroxham then had an excellent chance to get back in the game when Rogers set up Ben Johnson who did all the good work to get clear for a one on one with Wright only to shoot over when with more control he should have scored.
Lemmon made a great save from Smith and the ball ran free to substitute Cooper who tapped in but was offside.
A good lay-off from Didwell enabled Ben Fowkes to get in a shot and he struck the ball well but again Wright made a great save.
Wroxham were applying a lot of pressure but just not getting the breaks to score. Mulbarton held on and duly took the points as they are mounting a concerted effort to finish third and take the Mummery Cup. They could have a significant say in the destination of the Sterry Cup as they still must play Harleston & Spixworth.
Wroxham are just playing for pride and hopefully will be able to pick up more points for a high finish.
