Wroxham competed well against a strong Harleston side but came out second best as they took the points with a 3-1 win.

The home side had a couple of changes from Saturday with Adam Plumstead & Jack Guyton included. The team started somewhat on the back foot as it was Harleston’s clear intention to get at them. Harleston were driving forward and it required an excellent save by Harley Lemmon on 5 mins to deny they as he dived to his right.
But Wroxham had an even better chance two minutes later when Jack Guyton was played in for a one on one with Will Viner only for the Harleston ‘keeper to come out on top as Guyton shot weakly.
Wroxham were now playing much better and took the lead on 13 minutes when a long ball from the back was brought down by Aaron Attree and he picked his spot from 20 yards.
The young Yachtsmen forced the 2nd placed team to defend for a period as they had further chances to increase the lead.
Somewhat against the run of play Harleston equalised on 21 minutes when Nick Howell beat three players with a determined run before blasting a shot high into the net despite Lemmon getting a hand on the ball in an attempt to palm it away.
A long range shot from Danny Rogers was forced away by Viner as Wroxham looked to put the setback behind them. Then a free from Attree crashed against the post with Viner beaten but Rogers put the follow-up over as the Harleston ‘keeper recovered to close down the Wroxham striker.
On 30 minutes a lovely through ball from James Baughurst was brilliantly brought down by Attree and his snao shot was turned aside by Viner.
Wroxham were playing some good football and closing down the Harleston players. Rogers was played thro’ again once more bring a fine save from the Harleston ‘keeper.
Then just as it seemed the sides would go into the break level, the visitor’s scored again out of nothing. Scott Roberts cross from the left found Howell who stabbed the ball in.
The scoreline was somewhat harsh on the Wroxham team but there were no excuses for a goal just after half-time as they fell further behind. Ollie Ebbage was caught on the ball and Robert’s ran on, taking full advantage, with a delightful lob over Lemmon into the far corner.
This took the stuffing out of the Wroxham players as Harleston began to show their dominance. However they fought back and could have had a second when Rogers set up Jack Guyton whose shot across goal wasn’t far wide.
Wroxham should have pulled one back when a cross reached Attree and he hit a thunderous shot but Viner again pulled off a stunning save.
As Wroxham became stretched in their search to find a way back, Harleston were awarded a penalty when Adam Plumstead pulled down Jordan Blyth only for Lemmon to save Roberts spot kick. The Wroxham keeper again excelled with an excellent save to turn over another shot but by now it was all too late to find a way back as the final whistle went.
But Wroxham can’t be too disappointed as they more than matched their opponents for long periods but they got the vital goals.
