The reserves ended up losing 4-1 to leaders Spixworth but the score scoreline didn’t fully reflect the effort put in by the young Yachtsmen.

They led 1nil at half-time but it could have been more as they hit the bar and were denied a clear penalty by the referee with his assistant flagging for the offence. But Spixworth came back strongly in the second half assisted by some defensive mistakes scoring four times.
Spixworth started off on the front foot with Matt Cross and Scott Woodgate combining down the left for Cross to get in a shot which Harley Lemmon did well to save off his legs in the 8th minute. Then centre back Joe Easton had a chance heading over from a free-kick.
But Wroxham settled to get their passing game together. On 10 minutes Danny Rogers set up Archie Galley whose shot across goal was well saved by Nathan Pauling.
Soon after, Rogers went in the referees note book for an infringement.
On 20 minutes Wroxham had strong claims for a penalty dismissed by the referee when a clear push on Rogers should have resulted in a spot kick with the assistant referee supporting that view.
Wroxham had a let off on 26 minutes when Ben Morgan’s snap shot came off the post and straight into Lemmon’s hands.
The home side took the lead on 30 minutes as Aaron Attree got between two Spixworth defenders to side foot past Pauling.
Another shot from Archie Galley was brilliantly saved by Pauling and soon after Aaron Attree’s shot came off the bar as Wroxham started to take firm grip on proceedings.
Despite that Spixworth should have levelled shortly before half-time when Morgan got to the byline. He squared for Paul Cook who had the simple task of tapping in with Lemmon outside his goal but somehow the popular former Wroxham player who scored for the Yachtmen in their FA Vase final at Wembley contrived to send the ballnnot only wide but straight into the Wroxham keeper’s arms.
With that miss Wroxham went in at half time 1nil ahead with all to play for in the second period.
But they didn’t learn the lesson from recent games when they were in front by letting their opponents back in the game. On 55 minutes a long shot was fumbled by Lemmon with Cook on hand to tap in the loose ball. Then Spixworth took the lead five minutes later when in a goalmouth scramble the ball fell loose for Luke Tuttle to score.
Wroxham brought their subs on but to no avail as Spixworth scored twice more to take a stranglehold on the game. Morgan scored the third when he ran past two Wroxham defenders who were left stranded as he then shot past Lemmon. Then from a corner Paul Cook was completely unmarked to fire in from six yards.
The score line was a bit flattering to Spixworth as the young Yachtsmen had pushed them all the way. But congratulations to our neighbours who completed an Anglian Combination Premier Division record of 19 consecutive wins and will surely go on to win the Sterry Cup for the first time in their history.
