Wroxham Reserves were a team out of sorts after the Christmas/New Year break and were well beaten by an impressive Mulbarton side including three former Yachtsmen.

Strangely, the officials allowed the game to start without any corner flags or the obligatory Anglian Combination match ball.
Wroxham started well enough and could have taken an early lead when a superb cross from Marcus Wilkinson spelt danger but there was no one to turn it in.
Then Sam Gaunlett was fouled just outside the penalty area and Aaron Attree free kick was just over.
But the home side took the lead on 9 minutes with their first real attack. A cross from the left was only partly cleared and fell straight at Danny Self who smashed the ball in low through Harley Lemmon’s legs.
The visitor’s didn’t learn from that mistake and were two down two minutes later when another former Yachtsman Ben Thompson cut inside from the right following a defensive error and finished well.
Wroxham were now all at sea as Eliot Altay’s goal bound shot was turned over by Lemmon and could easily have been a third.
Lemmon made another good save off his legs to deny Robbie Smith.
Wroxham had a couple of chances as they tried to stem the flow and find a way back. A lovely cross from Wilkinson went the same way as his earlier effort which only needed a touch to turn the ball in. A header from Matt Doyle also looked dangerous but was straight at Mulbarton ‘keeper Wright.
Mulbarton were still looking the more likely to score again and almost did so when Thompson’s shot hit the post.
The visitors almost pulled one back just before half-time when Aaron Attree set up Cruise Nyadzayo who skipped past Wright to try and force the ball in but the angle was too tight as a defender got back to clear over the bar.
The Wroxham management made changes at half-time with Harry Severn withdrawn and Jack Lincoln forced off with an injury. Harry Maddison and George Maidment were the replacements.
This didn’t seem to make much of an improvement as the home side continued to dictate play with Ross Durrant prominent.
A third goal came on 65 minutes when Jamie Smith raced paced Billy Wenn to slot the ball inside the post.
Lemmon made another good save to stop a 4th soon after but it was not long before Mulbarton scored again when Wenn’s back pass was under-hit and Smith capitalised to score again finishing well.
When Attree did find the net for Wroxham the assistant had already raised his flag for offside by another player.
Mulbarton scored a 5th on 80 minutes with a powerful header from a corner by Eliot Altay which looped into the far corner.
This was not the way in which the Yachtsmen had hoped to start the New Year and with other teams winning they dropped to 4th place and will be looking to put things right against Stalham next week.
