Against a struggling Cromer side, Joint Managers, Kaine Challen and Damian Didwell, ensured the young Yachtsman took nothing for granted and the lads responded with another professional display.
Wroxham showed their intent from the off with Attree testing the Cromer keeper in the first minute. This was followed with a series of corners as the hosts defended desperately to prevent the inevitable first goal. It came in the 10th minute when a precision pass from Taylor split the Cromer defence allowing Doyle to run through and score with a composed finish.
Four minutes later Cromer were grateful for a counter-attack which provided a free kick outside the Wroxham penalty area. This was taken by the Cromer captain, Crane, and produced a good save from Pauling low to his right. However, having held on to the ball, the quick-thinking keeper immediately saw opportunity for a Wroxham counter-attack and his distribution started a move which allowed Wilkinson free to score the visitor’s second with a clever chip over the advancing Cromer keeper.
The Wroxham pressure was relentless with central-midfielder Rampling dictating the game through a range of accurate passes. Wingers Wilkinson and Doyle continued to cause chaos in the Cromer defence with their speed and direct play and were well supported by the positive full-backs, Galley and Gauntlett,
A typically driving run from the impressive left back, Gauntlett, resulted in him being upended 30 yards from goal. Rampling took the free kick and was unlucky to see his shot narrowly go over the bar.
Only some last ditch defending then prevented Wroxham going further ahead with Doyle continuing to have chances.
On 25 minutes a 30 yard cross field pass from Rampling was met by Wilkinson who ran at the Cromer defence and crossed for Attree at the far post to make it 3-0 to Wroxham.
The Yachtsman scored a fourth just before the break after Attree played an excellent ball to Doyle who calmly slotted home his second and gave Wroxham a well deserved 4-0 lead at half-time.
With the game won in the first 45 minutes the Yachtsman were unable to match the intensity of their performance in the second half. However, patience and a professional approach ensured that further chances and goals would come.
Wilkinson and Doyle both had mazy runs and produced good crosses which centre-forward, Camala, on his Reserves debut was unable to convert.
The Wroxham management decided to make changes and brought on all three subs around the 55 minute mark with Wenn, Maddison and Rogers replacing Ebbage, Camala and Attree respectively.
Maddison made an immediate impact and could have scored twice before netting Wroxham’s fifth on 72 minutes. Rampling cleverly switched the play with a precise pass to Rogers who determinedly battled through the Cromer defence before pulling the ball across the 6 yard line for Maddison to finish.
Cromer’s frustrations showed when Rogers was kicked having outpaced Cromer’s Lopes who rightly received a yellow card for his troubles. Another yellow was then shown to Cardosa for comments to the ref.
Wroxham’s 6th goal came in the 85th minute when Wilkinson somehow managed to ride having his shirt pulled and various attempts to bring him down before rifling the ball in to the top right corner from a tight angle.
As the game drew to a close a long ball into the Wroxham box saw Cromer’s (No 9) Diago Costa get the wrong side of Pauling which resulted in the keeper bringing him down. Costa, Cromer’s best player on the day, stepped up to take the penalty but Pauling saved his effort and the rebound was blasted wide when composure was needed. A clean sheet though was no more the solid Wroxham defence deserved.
A convincing win for the young Yachtsman, who continue to play as a team with confidence and flair.
