Throughout the game The Spikemen were second best to a well organised young Yachtsmen side.
It was a frantic start to the game but Wroxham were more than holding their own against the favourites going into the game. Jack Guyton returning to the side after a rib injury set Marcus Wilkinson away who got in a lovely cross that was turned round for the 1st corner.
But neighbours Spixworth showed their strength with a flurry of corners themselves as they had Wroxham back pedalling but coping with most of what was thrown at them. The partnership of Ollie Ebbage & Harry Severn looked solid with 17 year old youngsters Tom Rampling & Archie Galley defending well but still finding time to get forward.
This they did very effectively in the 20th minute when following a 5th corner Wroxham broke away in numbers before the ball reached Danny Rogers who set Wilkinson on another run to get in a cross which fell for Aaron Attree in space. He appeared to miss-kick his shot but it had enough momentum to beat Martin Owen in the Spixworth goal and carry over the line although Rogers was there to make sure.
Soon after another 50 yard run by Wilkinson produced a lovely cross for Rogers who shot was blocked on the line and prevent Wroxham doubling their lead.
The Spikemen were looking somewhat shell shocked by the Wroxham players notably led by Guyton, closing them down and Wilkinson with some pacy runs. But ex-Yachtsman Paul Cook did manage to get in a shot which was well off target. A shot from Scott Woodgate was well taken by Nahan Pauling although Spixworth were mainly restricted to long range efforts.
More good work by Wilkinson resulted in the ball falling to Rogers again and he should have scored but volleyed over. In the next attack, Rogers cut in to create another chance for himself only to fire way wide.
Guyton again broke up play before passing to Attree on the edge of the area but he also shot over.
Despite their dominance Wroxham were caught out when a cross from Scott Sell in the 43rd minute was headed home inevitable by Luke Tuttle who up to that stage had not shown much of his talent.
Wroxham held on until the half-time whistle.
Even with the prospect of a more purposeful response by the home side Wroxham regained the lead in the 52nd minute with a lovely move that ended with Wilkinson lobbing the keeper from 15 yards.
Spixworth had a chance to equalise again but James Page fired over.
Wroxham made changes with Harry Maddison & Ashley Gray entering the fray as they continued to threaten Attree had a chance but side footed wide before they did score a third on 75 minutes. Matt Doyle finished off as the ball bobbled in the area.
Tom Rampling’s free-kick hit the bar as they searched for a 4th. As the game flowed end to end Nathan Pauling made a great save to deny Joe Easton while on the break Attree shot straight at the keeper.
Wroxham had a couple of let offs when Cook fired over and then headed wide as Spixworth tried to find a way back.
They didn’t as Wroxham scored a 4th in the last minute with a break away and goal as Shaun Taylor calmly shot past Owen.
This was a very competitive cup-tie and the ressies will now hope for a home draw in the next round.
