Reserves sparkle against Saints and rise up the table

Chris Green31 Mar 2016 - 16:10

Great win for Ressies tonight to take them off the bottom and up to 12th in the table.

They have now taken10 points from 12 in the last last 4 games and in their last 3 home games have recorded 3 clean sheets and won each game 2-0! Hopefully this augers well for the remaining 7 games all of which are at Trafford Park.
This game against high flying St Andrews started nip and tuck although Wroxham appeared to have the edge.
This was confirmed in the 30th minute when they too the lead through a neat move which saw the ball passed to Bradley Spooner. He drove forward and unleashed an excellent 20 yard shot which was targeted straight into the top corner giving Harley Lemmon in the Saints goal no chance.
Wroxham's keeper Kingsley Barnes who has been in good form since returning from from a concussion injury had less to do as St Andrews were restricted to half chances.

The visitors came out strongly after the break but Wroxham were defending well and Barnes made a couple of decent brave stops to deny them.
Wroxham had a good chance for a 2nd when sub Danny Rogers effort was blocked as the visitors managed to scramble the ball away under some intense pressure.
A good cross from Lewis Sturman found Rogers but he was not up to the task and his poor header was easily dealt with.
Then Barnes made a brilliant save to deny Saints. A lovely ball in from the right reached full back Jody Cork who struck the ball with some venom towards goal but Barnes was up to the task and made a fine save.
Wroxham increased their lead on 70 minutes with a soft goal. Jack Lincoln chased down a long ball which should have been cleared by Harley Lemmon (son of former Wroxham stalwart Ryan) who dallied on the ball enable Lincoln to take advantage when the ball ran loose and tuck into an empty net.
The home side now raised their game another level and almost had a third when Danny Rogers was hauled down on the edge of the area. Substitute Gavin Lemmon's free kick was well placed for fellow sub Shaun Taylor but the youngster was unable to guide his header towards the target and it sailed over.
Jack Guyton also had an effort which went over the top as Wroxham continued to press. The home side were playing some good football but unable to add to their lead despite Saints 'keeper Lemmon showing a distinct lack of confidence following his earlier blunder.
But a 2-0 win was enough to take them off the bottom and up to 12th place on 24 points with seven home games left. Next up is Cromer on Saturday ko 2-30 followed by another midweek game under lights against Blofield next Wednesday.
