Ressies extend unbeaten run to 5 games

Chris Green4 Apr 2016 - 09:15

The reserves maintained their good run with a deserved 2 nil win against Cromer to take them up to 9th place.

What a change in fortune in just a week. From propping up the table 7 days ago, 2 wins and a draw has seen the team climb the table but there are still only 4 points between ourselves in 9th place and Mattishall who are now bottom. So there is no room for complacency and it is important to continue the good run.
Against Cromer, confidence was oozing from the start of the game as Wroxham almost took a first minute lead. A lovely pass found Jordan Attree who should have scored but his weak shot was straight at the visitors' keeper.
Then Mac Gee had a chance from a corner but his header was turned round.
With Wroxham controlling the early play, the keeper brought off a fine save to deny Bradley Spooner shot.
After lots of Wroxham pressure, Cromer almost took the lead when a first time shot was well blocked by Kingsley Barnes.
But it was still Wroxham in the driving seat as Mac Gee set up Attree who blazed over but from the corner they took the lead on 30 minutes. Ollie Ebbage's header hit the bar and dropped for Jack Lincoln to turn in and give the young Yachtsmen a deserved lead.
Wroxham should have doubled their lead when Attree set up Lincoln who was also unable to keep the ball down as it cleared the bar.
The home side went into the break one goal up when it should have been four or five.
HT Wroxham Res 1 Cromer Town 0
Cromer came out with more intent at the start of the second half but it was still Wroxham creating the better chances although unable to finishing off some good play.
The best chance again fell to Attree when he was put through with just the keeper to beat but fired wide.
At last Wroxham scored a second on 70 minutes with a lovely move ending with Spooner slipping the ball to Jack Lincoln on the right and he pick his spot with a good shot.
After a mistake by Attree, Cromer broke away and Jack Hurrell almost scored but was Barnes made an excellent save to turn the ball round for a corner.
Wroxham had a further chance to make it three when sub Aaron Attree set up his brother who seemed certain to score but skied his shot over the stand.
The game then petered out with neither side creating any significant chances but Wroxham were pleased to take all three points.
