It was also the satisfaction of two doubles in the same period and the same 2 nil score line against another of their rivals at the bottom.
The 1st half against Mattishall was almost a repeat of the Scole game with both sides unable to make any break though and the half-time score still 0-0.
Wroxham again created some early chances and Mattishall soaked up the pressure with George Pledger showing a safe pair of hands in the visitor’s goal. The Yachtsmen were grateful for one excellent save by Kingsley Barnes to keep the score blank. Otherwise there was not too much to invigorate a sparse crowd.

But the second half was a different affair with Wroxham coming out all guns blazing. A great gross from Matty Doyle into the 6 yard box was met by Pledger who brilliantly turned over a header from Jordan Attree. From the resulting corner, the Mattishall keeper made another excellent save.
Doyle who was looking in much better form, again got in a cross to set up Bradley Spooner who hit a what seemed like a spot on strike towards the top corner but Pledger was equal to it bringing off a fine save to turn the ball round.
Wroxham were now getting their passing game going with a lovely move which saw Shaun Taylor get in a first time cross which was desperately cut out by a Mattshall defender with two home players ready to strike. Then Spooner’s shot was just past the post before the young Yachtsmen at last took the lead on 65 minutes. Doyle again won the ball midway in the Mattishall half and as he ran on, he spotted the keeper off his line and delivered an excellent lob from 25 yards which could have bounced over the bar but was perfectly placed to finish in the top of the net.
With their tails up, Wroxham attacked again and thought they had a second when Spooner’s shot took a deflection to end in the net but the linesman’s flag had gone up for Doyle who was in an offside position.
Pledger again made a save to deny Jordy Attree’s toe poke as Wroxham continued to maintain the pressure while at the other end Barnes was pretty much idle although Mattishall did have more of the ball.
Any fear of an equaliser was finally lifted with a second excellent goal by Wroxham. Doyle made a determined run down the right and deserved a bit of luck as he clashed with a defender and the ball ran free for him to get in a cross which fell perfectly for Bradley Spooner to hit the roof of the net with a brilliant volley which lifted everyone.
This meant another three points and a clean sheet to boot which genuinely gives the young Wroxham team a fighting chance to save their bacon. Next up is their last away game at Caister which takes on some significance as it gives the team a chance to get off the bottom spot and leap frog one of their rivals. After that there are 8 straight home games to complete a full recovery.
