It may have been top versus bottom but there was little to choose between the teams as Wroxham Reserves gave a good account and were unlucky not to have come away with at least a point.
As early as the 2nd minute they surprised The Spikemen and had a great chance to take the lead. A cross from Shaun Howes beat the Spixworth central defenders and initially got tangled between Danny Rogers legs as he fluffed his effort but it then fell for Jack Lincoln who seemed certain to score with an open goal but shot weakly straight at Danny Lloyd.
Little was seen of the home side until midway through the half when Sam Gaunlett broke away down the left and his shot across goal brought a good save from Kingsley Barnes to turn round for a corner.
Wroxham were still very much in the game and had another chance on 30 minutes when Charlie Norman won the ball to set up Bradley Spooner whose shot across goal beat Lloyd and only needed a touch to turn in.
Despite a bit more pressure from Spixworth, the young Wroxham side looked quite comfortable and deserved to be level at the break.

Although they had made a positive performance in the first half which received a deserved pat on the back by the management, Wroxham switched off five minutes into the second period. A good shot from No 17 was turned round for a corner by Branes. From the resulting cross ex- Wroxham player Shaun Wones turned the ball in at the near post to give Spixworth the lead.
For a short while this seemed to knock the stuffing out of the Wroxham youngsters and they almost conceded a second but the officials decided it was offside.
But Wroxham recovered and a good move saw Bradley Sponer slip the ball into Danny Rogers path but he also was offside just as he was about to shoot.
Then Spooner played another lovely ball over the top for Matty Doyle who ran free but unfortunately it hit him on top of the head and the chance was lost.
Wroxham deservedly leveled on 68 minutes when Danny Lloyd failed to clear the ball which fell to Danny Rogers 30 yards out and he returned it with a sublime lob into an empty net.
This lifted the young Wroxham team and they should have had a penalty five minutes later when Doyle was clearly brought down in the penalty area but the officials decided otherwise.
Wroxham were more than miffed by the decision especially as they were playing well and were almost undone when Charlie Norman lingered on the ball which was won by the danger man Gauntlett whose shot hit the post.
But Wroxham had another chance when Rogers played a neat pass to substitute Marcus Wilkinson who ran into the area and Lloyd pulled of an excellent one armed save to deny him.
Spixworth applied more pressure and it paid off with virtually the last move of the game. 16 year old Tom Rampling who had an excellent game inadvertently gave a free-kick just outside the area with the clock ticking away to full-time. Spixworth seized on this and a cross into the box was neatly headed past Barnes by Shaun Wones. The home players turned away elated but there was no way back for the Wroxham team who had more than held their own. This should however be a boost for the remaining 11 games to show the Wroxham side can mix it with the best in the league. Next game up is Scole Utd on Wed Mar 16 to start a run of 10 homes games where at least six wins are required to stay up.
