Wroxham had a very young side out with new signing Jack Lincoln on the bench.
After a quiet opening Wroxham got forward and Jack Smith turned sharply to set up Matty Doyle whose shot looked to be heading towards goal but drifted away from the top corner by a northerly wind.
Mattishall had to make a change when one of their players sustained a hamstring pull.
Play was somewhat scrappy although Wroxham had the upper hand until Mattishall took the lead on 20 minutes with an excellent goal. Marcus Youngs strode forward to the edge of the area with no Wroxham player taking him on, he unleashed a lovely short that curled in off the far post with Olly Sutton unable to get anywhere near.
This boosted the visitors who started to get more in the game but there were no further goals before half-time.

Wroxham soon equalised when Cain Eagleton was tripped in the area and referee George Byrne pointed to the spot although in fairness it seemed a somewhat soft decision. But Matty Doyle made no mistake as he neatly slotted the penalty kick in the bottom corner beyond George Pledger’s reach.
There was not much quality on display with too many passes going astray although Wroxham had a good chance to go ahead when Doyle ran through and his firm shot was turned over by Pledger.
Wroxham made their first substitution with Alex Jary replacing Elliot Rose.
Olly Sutton was called upon to make a good save to deny No 9.
Wroxham made a further substitution with Lincoln on for Jack Smith before Mattishall regained the lead on 75 minutes. The home side lost the ball in mid-field and George Watts-Sturrock took advantage as he shot into the bottom corner.
The young Yachtsmen tried to get back in the game and finished strongly. First a good run and shot from Lincoln was well saved by Pledger and they had a better chance when Tyler Curran’s cross was perfectly placed for Doyle but his header was straight at the keeper.
But they were unable to find the net and with other clubs around them picking up points Wroxham again dropped to third bottom. Sheringham are now doomed but Wroxham need at least one more win to avoid being drawn into a battle with Wymondham for the other relegation place.
