There were very few clear cut chances for either side in the first half particularly, which was littered with robust challenges mainly from the visitors and miss-placed passed from both sides.
This was very much a mid-field battle restricted to some long range shots most of which were off target.
Wroxham’s young striker Danny Rogers was though a handful for the Acle defence with his incisive runs. Towards the end of the half he had a clear sight of goal but inexplicably instead of allowing a good move to continue, referee Mark Ames stopped play for a foul on Sol Pope which in the end gave Wroxham no advantage at all. Pope had been in the wars earlier following a clash of heads but returned after receiving treatment.

The second half continued with Wroxham giving a spirited performance against the league leaders. However there was a bit more goalmouth action as Ollie Sutton had to be alert to deny former colleague Aaron Sanders who had cut in from the right into the penalty area to get in a fierce shot which Sutton block and made another excellent save with a follow-up. Prior to this Sanders had mainly been kept fairly quiet by Tyler Curran.
Wroxham were also getting forward more and in a good move the ball was worked by Jack Smith to Matty Doyle wide on the left and he ran unchallenged into the area only to shoot tamely straight at the keeper.
Acle were reduced to 10 men when centre back Adam Faulkes was shown a straight red for a hefty challenge. This gave Wroxham more opportunity to get forward but they failed to take advantage. Despite their loss Acle were still also making a game of it. They were helped when referee Ames pulled up Mac Gee on the edge of the area when the Wroxham player appeared to have won the ball fairly. Sanders took the free-kick and brought another fine save from Sutton diving full stretch to turn the ball round for a corner..
The game then petered out as both sides settled for a draw. Wroxham’s man of the match for the second week was Mac Gee closely followed by Sutton although this was a good team performance and provided some real positives for the remaining games.
