The home side scored twice in the first half to give them a commanding lead but Wroxham picked up slightly in the second period to pull one back.
The pitch which had been under water just a few days before had dried out and been rolled but was still quite bumpy.
Beccles who are in one the relegation positions belied their form with a positive start and it was no surprise they took an early lead in the 9th minute although it was largely down to some poor play by the Yachtsmen. Wroxham were on the attack and should have opened up the town defence but instead the wrong pass was made and Beccles countered in the most effective way. A long ball down the middle found Elliott Dawes who easily dispensed with some ineffective defending to round Kingsley Barnes and slide the ball into an empty net.
Wroxham passes were going astray as Beccles doubled their lead in the 16th minute. Somehow the ball fell for Neil Hurren on the edge of the penalty area and he swivelled to hit a cracking low shot into the bottom corner.
The home side couldn't believe their luck and continued to press forward against a rocky defence who were not helped but the continuous return of passes to their opponents.
Beccles almost had a third when Hurren's lob just cleared the bar and the visitor's survived until half-time without further damage.
HT Beccles 2 Wroxham Res 0
There must have been some strong words said at half-time as Ryan Guild was brought on to try and repair the damage in place of Cain Eagleton although it could have been any of the outfield players from the first half performance.
Wroxham gained some momentum but passes were still going astray and any attempt to put pressure on the Beccles defence soon disappeared without any direct shot on target.
Play got somewhat niggly with both sides upset by some strange refereeing decisions.Wroxham brought on their remaining subs and got some reward in the 80th minute when a free-kick reached Ollie Ebbage who looped his header in the top corner.
This gave the side a lift but they were still unable to break down a resolute home defence again as Beccles held on to take the points and give their relegation battle a boost. This defeat leaves Wroxham looking closely at results of the teams below them as they need a couple of wins to keep out of trouble themselves.
