Reserves take point from unbeaten Crabs

Chris Green14 Sep 2013 - 21:20

Wroxham Reserves gained a point after coming back from 2-nil down at a sodden Cabbell Park.

The Crabs had taken a two goal lead before two alte goals from Danny Rust ( his first for the club) and Matt Doyle gave us a share of the points.
Wroxham started off as if they meant business and had two really good early chances. Stephen Darke showed his pace to get in a telling cross for Jordon Attree whose shot was turned round by former Yachtsmen keeper Nathan Pauling. Then they had an even better chance when Gerson Greco got in a perfect cross for Drake who seemed certain to score with a diving header but contrived to head wide with Pauling out of position.
As the rain started to come down Wroxham were to pay for those missed chances as the home side started to get in the game and Liam Davis went very close to opening the score. Then Matty Eves brought a fine save from Scott Cruickshank. It was no surprise when they did take the lead and Eves was involved to set up Keiron Patel to finish.
WRoxham had a chance to equalise when Attree side stepped a defender to get in a shot which was brilliantly turned round by Pauling.

Wroxham made a change at half-time with Luke Priestly replaced by Matt Doyle.
Any chance of a an early comeback from Wroxham soon evaporated when a short back pass by Ollie Ebbage was intercepted by Amos Bailey who tapped into an empty net.
This boosted the confidence of the unbeaten home side and they threatened more goals. Wroxham made further substitutions bring on Cain Eagleton and Jack Guyton.
Against the run of play Wroxham pulled one back with a free-kick on the edge of the area taken by Danny Rust that went straight through the Crpmer wall and skimmed past Pauling on 75 minutes.
Then within a minute they were level as a shot ricochet off Pauling and sub Matty Doyle finished off.
Wroxham had a let-off when an Eaves cross found Lenny Drummie at the far post but he was unable to direct his sliding shot between the sticks.
In the last few minutes Wroxham had a couple of chances to win the game. First Pauling pulled of an instinctive savy off his chest to deny Chris Sutton then a shot from Drake was cleared off the line as both sides settled for a point.
Next Saturday they meet again at Cabbell Park in the Senior KO Cup
