Wroxham Slate Beavers

Chris Green26 Aug 2013 - 00:16

Wroxham Reserves twice came back from being a goal behind to finally take all three points against neighbours Blofield with a 4-2 win in a thrilling encounter.

The Beavers took an early lead before Jordon Attree equalised. In the second half Blofield again went ahead but goals from Attree, Luke Priestly & Liam Betts made it two wins from the opening games for the Yachtsmen.

Blofield started in a very positive way and had two early chances before taking the lead in the sixth minute. It was no real surprise when Chris Holmes found space on the right and got in a cross for Duncan Whitlam to climb high and head past Olly Sutton.

Wroxham were all at sea and almost fell further behind when Whitlam again shot from 20 yards and the ball cannoned off the post.
Slowly Wroxham got their passing game together and mounted a few attacks themselves. The equaliser came on 15 minutes with a neat goal. Jack Guyton clipped the ball forward allowing Jordon Attree freedom to get in a deft back header before the Blofield ‘keeper could get anywhere near.

As the young Yachtsmen stepped up their game, and had a good chance to take the lead. Attree won the ball and could have shot himself but instead he unselfishly laid the ball to Luke Priestly who was about to pull the trigger only for the Blofield keeper to block with a fine save.

Then a corner by Danny Rust was played back to Guyton who took aim but was just over. Ben Morgan had a chance for the home side but he also shot over.

Wroxham went behind again shortly after the break when Guyton lost the ball and Morgan was released down the right to send in a cross for last season’s top scorer Chris Holmes who made no mistake at the far post.

Wroxham weren’t behind long and it was Attree again who equalised. He turned some 20 yards out and hit a howitzer which hit the back of the net before the keeper could move.

Soon after Wroxham took the lead when Luke Priestley received the ball on the right and he shot low to score another good goal.

Liam Betts replaced Deivydas Andriuskevicius and he was soon in the action to score a 4th goal for the visitors. Out on the left he received a neat pass from Danny Rust to race towards the penalty area and hit another low shot that arrowed into the bottom corner.

Sutton fumbled a shot from Ben Morgan as Blofield tried hard to get back in the game but Sol Pope, who performed well throughout, managed to get back and turn the ball past the post for a corner.

Wroxham brought on their other subs with Elliott Wesby replacing Priestly and Ollie Ebbage on for Blake Robinson. Both soon got in the game for the remaining minutes as Wroxham deservedly held out to take the points.
