Reserves Start Season In Style At Loddon

Adam Dennehey22 Aug 2013 - 16:23

Wroxham Reserves won 5-1 in their opening game at Loddon showing signs of promise for the season ahead.

Loddon went ahead with a harsh penalty awarded for hand-ball and Wroxham equalised just before half-time. In the second half Wroxham dominated the game and scored four more.

Wroxham almost took an early lead as the ball was played out to the left to Sol Pope on his debut and the left back cut-in to get in a shot which was inches wide of the far post.

But it was the home side who took the lead on 6 minutes when Loddon were awarded a penalty as Shade attempted to clear the ball struck a colleague on the arm and referee Edwin Reid pointed to the spot. Alaex Brown stepped up to send Olly Sutton the wrong way.

Wroxham were doing most of the attacking on a bone hard brown pitch but without creating any clear openings.

Midway through the half the Loddon ‘keeper fumbled a cross from Ben Jones and was relieved a defender was on hand to clear the danger.

Finally two minutes before the break, a bit of class from Chris Sutton set up a tap in at the far post for Aaron Sanders to give Wroxham an equaliser

Chris Sutton again did well to win the ball out on the left and he set up Jordon Attree whose shot came off the post.

A great cross field pass by Chris Sutton set Jack Guyton away but the youngster was hasty as his early shot was pulled wide.

Wroxham took the lead on 52 minutes with a good worked move. Sanders held the ball up before pulling back to Attree to hit the bottom corner.
An excellent save by Olly Sutton diving to his right stopped what looked like it might be an equaliser from Brown.

Wroxham thought they had a 3rd when Chris Sutton played in Mayy Doyle who hit the net but the linesman flag was raised. Almost immediately the third came when Jones’s shot hit the underside of the bar and Doyle rammed the ball home.

Wroxham deservedly added a 4th after the keeper blocked two shots but Ben Jones was on hand to hit the roof of the net. Again young Sutton made a good save to deny Lee Whattam before Wroxham scored a 5th from Jordan Attree who chased the ball before casually placing it under Paul Stebbings.
