Six up for Reserves

Chris Green3 Nov 2012 - 21:16

Wroxham Reserves completed a 6-0 trouncing of Wymondham Town with a competant performance to please home supporters.

On a glue pot pitch following heavy rain immediately before the game, the reserves set about their task with some nice passing football.
Sam Harty and Danny Boswell combined to set Jordan Attree free down the right and he fired in a lovely low cross but there was no one to follow-up and finish.
Wymondham’s Chris Priest should have done better when a long ball sailed over the Wroxham defence for him to run onto but he wasted the chance screwing his shot wide.
The visitors were looking for an offside flag when Joe Marsden burst through but he overran the ball and the chance went begging.
Robert Browne for Wymondham let loose with a 25 yarder that flashed past the post although Ollie Sutton seemed to have it covered.
Wroxham’s best chance came on 30 minutes when Harty played a lovely through ball for Payton Swatman to run on down the left but as he cut in he tried to place his shot round the keeper who saved comfortably.
This spurred the home side on and in the next move they were awarded a penalty by refree Oace when Jordan Attree was hauled down and despite Wymondham protests, Danny Boswell sent Gareth Motterham the wrong way with a well placed spot kick.
Further persistence from Wroxham paid off when Joe Marsden found himself unmarked in the penalty area and neatly lobbed the keeper with the outside of his boot.
Attree who was having a decent game was again through on the right and a firm shot brought a smart save from the Wymondham custodian.
But the Wroxham frontman was not to be denied as he scored an excellent goal on 40 minutes after being set up by Swatman to give Wroxham a three goal cushion at the break.

HT Wroxham 3 Wymondham 0

Wroxham continued in the same vein attacking the visitors with Chris Sutton prompting the attacks with some clever passing. Wroxham almost added a fourth when Sam Harty’s long range shot hit the post with the keeper beaten. But it wasn’t long before they did get the fourth with an excellent move playing the ball across the area to Swatman whose cross was delivered to Sub Matt Doyle whose shot was turned in off the post.
The home side went close again when Swatman cleverly set up Doyle whose lob was only just over.
Frustrations boiled over with referee Pace booking Joe Marden for throwing the ball away after he had been stamped by an opponent who was also booked.
Wroxham’s 5th came on 80 minutes when Rio Starkings headed home from a corner.
This was followed by a 6th to complete the rout when Marsden in the opinion of the referee was brought down and he promptly took the penalty kick and scored.
