

Wroxham had a genuine claim for a penalty in the opening minute when Matt Blake ran through and ‘keeper Bircham appeared to make contact with the Wroxham player but referee Goodman ignored the claims.
The Yachtsmen started off well and had another chance on 6 minutes when Gavin Lemmon had a free header but it was straight at the ‘keeper.
Wroxham continued to press forward and had a couple of corners, the second of which saw the ball played back to Rio Starkings on the penalty spot whose first time shot was brilliantly turned over by Bircham .
Soham’s best chance came on 15 minutes when the referee awarded a freekick for a late challenge and when the ball reached Sofiam Bennour on the right, his fierce shot was blocked by Martin McNeil for a corner. From the flag kick Matt Robinson’s cross clipped the bar.
Then on 18 minutes Nathan Pauling raced off his line for a 50/50 challenge with Robbie Mason which the Wroxham ‘keeper won but the Soham player required attention and soon after was replaced by Tyler Phillips.
On 20 minutes a great ball in from Jamie Speller almost found Matt Blake but it bounced just over his head when he was well placed to finish.
The remainder of the half was end to end without any clear cut chances.

The second half followed the same pattern with Wroxham doing most of the attacking and Soham soaking up the pressure but breaking on the counter. A lovely cross field pass from Remy Gordon found Blake whose shot was blocked by Buster Harradine for another corner.
Soham had a chance when Scott Davis picked the ball up 30 yards out but his long range effort flew wide.
The best chance of the game so far fell to Wroxham on 66 minutes when Blake ran wide to get in a cross for Forshaw who had a free header which was misdirected wide. In the next attack a lovely cross from Gordon fell perfectly for Blake whose header seemed certain to go in but Bircham made a point blank save to deny the Wroxham striker.
Gavin Lemmon was then pulled down on the edge of the area and Gordon’s freekick beat the wall but not Bircham who made another good save.
Ross Durrant came on for Wroxham with immediate effect as he was released by a great pass from Forshaw to get in a dangerous cross which a Soham defender turned round.
The visitors almost broke the deadlock on 70 minutes when a glancing header by Phillips from Bennour’s cross was narrowly wide.
Another fine delivery from Durrant set up Blake with a completely free header but somehow he contrived to head the ball down and wide instead of in the net.
Wroxham were guilty of not converting several of the chances that fell their way and almost let in a succour goal near the end but Remy Gordon cleared off the line.
The home side still had a further chance when Andy Eastaugh burst through to almost poke home but the the final whistle went and for the second time in the competition, The Yachtsmen faced a penalty shoot out.
The spot kicks went according to plan until they reached 7-6 when Nathan Pauling saved Mark Howlett-Foster’s kick to send the Yachtsmen through for a trip to Concord Rangers in the Quarter Final on 15th January.
