Michael Hilton returned in goal for the Yachtsmen along with
Andy Eastaugh and Jamie Speller in a change to the starting
line up following Saturdays hard fought 1-1 at Canvey Island
in the FA Trophy.
Wroxham Manager David Batch asking more of his side in a bid
to progress to the next round and pick up the £2000+ prize
money along the way.
Canvey Island came out attacking from the kick off and the
game was only 1min old when Curran got onto the end of a
Chatting cross, the Gulls no'10 heading his effort over.
The opening exchanges were made at brisk pace and the
returning Hilthon was called into action on 10mins,tipping
Harrison Chatting's shot over the bar.
Canvey were again denied by the Yachtsmen keeper 5mins later,
saving with his feet to keep out Danny Heale's well hit shot.
On the 20mins Wroxham created their first real opening,
Angelo Harrop finding lone striker Ben Thompson who's shot
was comfortably saved by Jones in the Canvey goal.
The Gulls then had a Curran shot saved by Hilton before
full-back Ashley Miller shot high and wide and Canvey then
went closer still when James Hawes cross/shot hit the
Yachtsmen up-right, all in the space of 5mins.
Matt Blake replaced Jamie Seller on 32mins and moments later
Canvey took a deserved lead when Chatting's cross found HEALE
on the edge of the box to fire home.
Wroxham were on the back foot again on 38mins,following
Gavin Lemmon's poor back pass the Gulls John Curran latched
onto the loose ball only to be brought down by McNeil.
The Yachtsmen defender entering referee Stobbart's book.
From the resulting free-kick Hawes had his effort saved by
Hilton in the Wroxham goal.
Wroxham would play-out the remainder of the first half on
top and following industrious play by Thompson, Danny Self
blasted his shot wide of the Canvey goal from close in.

It was Wroxham's turn to come quickly from the blocks in
the second half when the impressing Remy Gordon's cross
found Lemmon who did well to get his half-volley effort
away, the ball sailing over the Gulls bar.
And the Gulls nearly extended their lead on 55mins when
Hilton saved superbly, diving full stretch to deny Chatting
a second goal for Canvey.
Moments later after more good wing-play by Gordon,Matt Blake
found himself in space, the Yachtsman shooting on the turn
to put the half-chance wide.
Hilton again kept his side in the match on 61mins saving
from Canvey's Richard Orlu's header
On 70 mins with Wroxham pressing for an equaliser, another
good run and cross by Remy Gordon found it's way across the
Canvey goal finding Danny Self, who's cross found Blake
who's shot flew over Jones's crossbar.
It was all Wroxham now and on 75mins Thompson was up-ended
on the edge of the Canvey box, REMY GORDON stepping up to
blast his free kick into the top right-hand corner of
the net to send the Trafford Park faithful into raptures.
2mins later, another good Remy Gordon cross was
headed on to his own up-right by Orlu as the Canvey side
looked at sixes and sevens and from the next Wroxham
attack the ball was in the Canvey net.
Referee Stobbart blowing for a free kick to the Gulls.
With temper's fraying as the 90mins ran down,Wroxham were
reduced to ten men as captain Gavin Lemmon was sent off
following a heavy challenge and Ross Durrant replaced
Angelo Harrop as the match headed for extra time.
Into extra time play became scrappy with neither side
committing player's into attacking positions on 12mins
however the busy Hilton again denied Heale his second
tipping the Gulls striiker shot round for a corner.
From the resulting kick Richard Orlu shot was saved by
the limping Yachtsmen keeper.
With the extra man advantage,Canvey were seeing more of the
possession as time ran down toward the dreaded penalty
kicks when with just 4mins of extra time remaining the
Gulls were awarded a free kick on the edge of the Wroxham
box, Canvey no'2 ASHLEY MILLER calmly striding up to blast
high into the Yachtsmen goal to send the Essex side and
their supporters home happy.
