HIPPERSON AT THE DOUBLE !!

HIPPERSON AT THE DOUBLE !!

Chris Green17 Oct 2012 - 19:25

Two late goals by man of the match Roscoe Hipperson see the Yachtsmen through in the League Cup ....By John Allen.....

Wroxham Manager David Batch rang seven changes to the side
that lost at Harlow on Saturday for this match against
Heybridge Swifts at Trafford Park.

Incoming, Nathan Pauling in goal,Ben Lewis,Roscoe Hipperson,
Ross Durrant,Andy Eastaugh,Matt Blake and Christy Finch
making his first start for the Yachtsmen.

The opening 20mins of this Ryman League Cup tie was
dominated by Wroxham as they set about ending their recent
goal drought.

Josh Carus headed just over from a Ross Durrant corner and
another telling Durrant cross found Blake who put his header
just wide and it was frontman Matt Blake who had his shot
well saved by Luke Banner in the Swifts goal.

However,he could do nothing on 19mins from a Ben Lewis
corner when the ball dropped into the Heybridge six yard box
Andy Eastaugh was on hand to bundle home
tor the Yachtsmen.

The lead would last no more than a minute when
LUKE CALLANDAR got through on goal to fire past the
returning Nathan Pauling to equalise for the Swifts.

Around the half hour, play became scrappy with neither side
creating chances but Wroxham had a close escape on 35mins
when Hipperson shaved his own upright, his back pass header
going for a corner to the relief of the Yachtsman.

Wroxham restored their lead shortly after the break, from a
Hipperson free kick on the half-way line Matt Blake had
two shooting efforts before picking himself up to direct his
header past Banner in the Swifts goal.

Again the Wroxham lead would be short lived when from a
Russell Malton cross, BEN NEWSON fired home on 50mins.

Wroxham had keeper Pauling to thank tipping over
Callandar's well hit shot a minute later.

This was a rare effort for Heybridge as it was the Yachtsmen
making all the running and added some fresh legs on the
hour, Carus making way for Gavin Lemmon.

Moments later a well delivered pass by Matt Daniels
found Ross Durrant on the edge of the Swifts penalty area,
his shot smashing against the crossbar.

A second change was made by Manager Batch, Martin McNeil
replacing Matt Halliday in a shift of formation for Wroxham and
Hipperson did well to block a shot from Swifts no;6 Malton
shortly after on 76mins.

Jamie Speller replaced the impressive Christy Finch a minute
later and it was Speller who provided the corner from which
HIPPERSON headed home from close in to give the Yachtsmen
the lead for a third time.

And it was Roscoe Hipperson again on 82mins with an
identical goal to his first, the Wroxham center half on hand
again to head home from Lemmon's corner to kill-off the
Heybridge efforts in the space of two minutes.

Wroxham finished the game with ten men when man of the
match Hipperson had to limp off, with the Yachtsmen having
already used the allowed three replcements.
