WROXHAM 3 AFC HAYES 1

MATT'S A LOT FOR YACHTSMEN. Goals from Matt Daniels and Matt Blake and an own goal were enough to send Wroxham through in the FA Trophy today.

Wroxham Manager David Batch named an unchanged starting line-up
for the first time this season, following the Yachtsmen's
demolition of Ware FC at Trafford Park on Tuesday evening.
Matt Halliday and Sam Harty being drafted onto the bench.

This game was only one minute old when Hilton in the Wroxham
goal was called into action, tipping over the bar from Hayes
number ten Mendy's attempted chip, the resulting Hayes
corner coming to nothing.

It was then the turn of the Yachtsmen to go close,Blake found
striking partner Thompson who's shot was saved by Hayes
keeper Khaira.

On 4mins the Hayes keeper was in the thick of it again when
Spellers cross found Blake,Khaira at full stretch, tipping
round the post.

Hayes fashioned a corner on 11mins,Willis's downward header
cleared off the goal-line by Danny Self.

In an end to end opening to this match, the Yachtsmen then
went close, Self's throw-in finding Blake,Khaira diving at
the feet of the Wroxham man to deny him a shot at goal.

Chances for both sides then became at a premium as both
sets of defenders got on top of their duties,Carus and
McNeil,on the end of every cross until the 33rd minute
when Hayes wide man Willis cross found Aban Majeed who
headed his side into a 1-0 lead.

This lead would be short-lived however,Speller finding
space down the right for Wroxham, his well delivered cross
being met by a Hayes defender who headed into his
own goal.

On 40mins Hayes produced their best passing attack of
the first half, culminating in a Willis shot well saved
by Hilton

Two minutes later determined running by Wroxham skipper
Gavin Lemmon produced an opening for Turner who's shot
on the turn went just wide.

Then in first half stoppage time Wroxham won a penalty
kick, Blake adjudged to be brought down by Referee
Ali Rayner,DANIELS stepping up to fire home.

The Yachtsmen came out strong for the second period,
following more good approach play by Lemmon,
Ben Thompson had his shot well saved by Khaira in the
Hayes goal, then Speller found Turner, who's shot flew
wide of the Hayes goal.

On 55mins Hayes created their first opening of the
second-half, Mendy's throw-in finding full-back
Charlie Crane who put his shot wide.

A minute later the Yachtsmen took control of the Tie,
Thompson allowed to get his shot away, which Khaira
was equal to but the ball then rebounded to BLAKE who
calmly fired home.

Hayes were being restricted to scraps as the Wroxham
defence and mid-field stood strong.

On 74mins Wroxham came close to a fourth,Thompson
again found Blake who was fouled on the edge of the
Hayes box, the busy Blake seeing his diving headed
effort go just wide from Lemmon's free-kick.

Josh Carus then earned his corn on 80mins with a
double block, Hayes no'7,Majeed denied his second of
the afternoon.

Five minutes later Hayes went close again,Vincent's
looping shot tipped over the cross-bar by Hilton,
from the resulting corner Majeed shot over.

This would prove to be the last decent opening of
the match for either side as the Yachtsmen played
out the remainder of the match to deservedly notch
up their first ever FA Trophy win.
