Wroxham took the lead early on, Remy Gordon racing through to calmly slot his effort past Jack Bradshaw after three minutes.
They didn’t hold the lead for long, Yusuff grabbing his first from the penalty spot after ten minutes, before the striker gave his side the lead with seven minutes remaining of the half with a leaping header from Lee Hales’ free kick.
Hales then turned goalscorer on 54 minutes as he capitalised on some poor defending from Wroxham to slot past Robert Juhasz, before Yusuff completed his hat trick three minutes later with a cool finish to seemingly end the match.
Wroxham showed spirit though, Daniel Broom’s looping header making it 4-2 with 20 minutes to go, before Aaron Sanders curled in on 82 minutes to spark dreams of a comeback, but Chatham held on for their seventh successive win.
Wroxham made two changes from the side that lost to Romford last Saturday, with Jordan King taking Sam Harty’s place in the starting XI – who dropped to the bench – and Tim Cary replacing the injured Ross Durrant.
The home side’s mood from the off was buoyant and they took the lead with a quick break after three minutes.
Remy Gordon raced onto a through ball from the Wroxham midfield, beating Brad Potter for pace to take a touch and slot his effort confidently past Jack Bradshaw in goal from 12 yards.
Wroxham were playing at a high tempo, pressing the ball well and not giving their opponents much time on the ball.
Despite this, a culmination of errors from the Wroxham defence let the visitors back in with ten minutes on the clock.
A high ball from Kieran McCann was misjudged by ‘keeper Robert Juhasz, who flapped at the ball to allow Lee Hales a lofted chance that was headed clear by Matt Halliday on the line. With the danger still not clear, Ade Yusuff picked the clearance up and nicked it past the Wroxham captain, who took him down and gave referee Darren Stobbart no choice but to point at the spot.
The former St. Neots Town forward dusted himself off to confidently send Juhasz the wrong way and get Chatham back on level terms.
Yusuff’s pace was beginning to be a problem for Wroxham, a neat one two with Hales giving him free reign again 60 seconds later, his dangerous looking ball evading everyone in the box to let Wroxham off.
The goal seemed to settle the away side and it was them who were playing the neater stuff, Yusuff again causing problems down the Wroxham left to drill a ball across to Hales, whose effort from just inside the box deflected off McCann and easily into Juhasz’s hands.
The home side were linking up well in fits and starts, Danny Self almost releasing Gordon again with a well placed through ball that just ran away from the winger, before his 34th minute free kick almost restored their lead.
A characteristic roaming run from Joe Marsden committed the Chatham defence and drew the foul. Gordon stepped up to send a whipped 25 yard effort that looked destined for the top corner, only for Bradshaw to claw the effort around the post in style.
The Yachtsmen were looking to gain some momentum, but it proved to be unsuccessful as Yusuff bagged his second on 37 minutes to give his side the lead.
After causing numerous problems with his feet, he showed he also possessed a nimble nature in the air, leaping highest to steer in Hales’ delightful near post free kick to make it 2-1 and turn the game on its head.
Gordon was Wroxham’s best player, the winger utilising his pace advantage over Potter to beat the right back with two minutes remaining with some superb wing play, his drilled ball in finding Stephen Drake, who was unable to control the ball and lose the chance.
Pawel Guziejko made two changes at half time, with Danny Broom making his first appearance for the first team after replacing Tim Cary, and Sam Harty coming on for Jordan King.
Despite the changes, it was the visitors who were still looking the more dangerous and they cemented their lead with 54 minutes on the clock.
Wroxham were guilty of wasting possession – a theme that has been a regular shortfall for the side all season – as Harty gifted Chatham the ball with a quick free kick that went astray, Hales racing through to coolly slot past Juhasz.
And it wasn’t long before it was four, the impressive Yusuff completing his hat trick in equally composed fashion.
McCann chipped a lovely ball behind the Wroxham defence on 57 minutes to the forward, who took a touch before continuing into the box and placing his effort into the bottom left corner.
Wroxham were struggling for any fluency as the game entered the final 20 minutes, before a Gordon free kick handed them a lifeline.
The winger’s looping ball in wasn’t properly cleared by the Chatham defence, the clearance falling to Broom who sent a looping header back across the goal and into the bottom right corner for 4-2.
The home side were hoping this would give them the lift they needed, but it seemed to have the adverse effect as Chatham went in search of a fifth, Yusuff going agonizingly close twice in the space of 30 seconds.
The first came out of nothing, the ball falling to the striker just inside the box to allow him the space to fire in a well placed volley that struck the inside of the post and out. The second was more clear cut, a scramble allowing the Chatham player space from six yards out to pick his spot, only to scuff his effort wide of the post with the goal at his mercy.
Wroxham were still battling on, Broom going on a superb run that deserved a finish from one of his teammates, the forward’s ball rolling across the box after beating three men with nobody there to finish.
But there was still time for Wroxham to dream of a comeback, Aaron Sanders latching onto Sam Harty’s delicate through ball to take a touch before curling wonderfully into the bottom right corner with eight minutes to go.
But it would prove fruitless for the home side as Chatham held strong to claim their seventh win on the trot, and leave Wroxham without a win in seven games.
