The Yachtsmen took the lead early in the first half, Joe Marsden slotting home his 9th penalty of the season on 15 minutes after Aaron Sanders was downed in the box.
Remy Gordon and David Knight hit the post for either side, before Thurrock got the equaliser their play deserved on the hour mark through Lewwis Spence’s near post header.
Gordon and Matt Halliday both cleared Thurrock efforts off the line as the home side pressed for the winner, which duly came in added time as Knight headed in Spence’s high ball across to snatch victory for his side.
Wroxham welcomed back Daniel Self and Sam Harty to first team action, with Jordan King and Jack Guyton – both of whom were on the score sheet in last weekend’s victory over Tilbury – left to settle for places on the bench.
Thurrock were controlling the possession in the opening stages, David Knight finding space just inside the box after seven minutes to create the first real opening, curling a well placed effort that Robert Juhasz palmed away.
Wroxham were struggling to play any free flowing football on a bobbly surface, before a moment of magic from Ross Durrant and Aaron Sanders earned the visitors a penalty.
A superb through ball in the 15th minute from Durrant set Sanders free, the right winger wriggling his way into the box before drawing the foul, giving referee Wayne Cartmel no option but to point at the spot.
Joe Marsden stepped up to coolly send Andy Walker the wrong way to maintain his 100% record from the spot this season and give his side the lead.
This seemed to spur the home side into life and they should have been level five minutes later.
A driving run from left back Remi Sutton committed the Wroxham defence, allowing the defender to pick out Lewis Perkins just inside the box who could only blaze well over when well situated.
The Yachtsmen seemed happy to play on the counter attack, creating some promising attacks through the running of Marsden and Sam Harty that were just lacking that final ball.
Durrant had a couple speculative efforts to his name, most notably a 33rd minute corner that almost sneaked all the way in, Walker having to be on his toes to tip it away from just under the crossbar.
Some more slick passing from the busy Durrant then set Gordon on his way, the winger unleashing a fierce 25 yard effort that just clipped the post on its way through.
As the game edged towards half time, it was the home side who were finishing the stronger, Lewwis Spence and Ross Wall both producing air shots when well placed.
Spence almost made amends as the game ticked into stoppage time, the midfielder running onto Perkins’ flick on the send a dipping volley agonizingly over.
The Fleet carried on their urgency as the second half began and went close twice in the first four minutes.
Knight had the first attempt, placing his effort onto the bottom of the left upright after Wroxham failed to clear their lines, before Loui Hazelwood drifted an inviting ball in for Wall, who could only head wide when free from six yards.
The Yachtsmen’s defence was holding strong as Thurrock kept on knocking at the door, Robert Clark almost nicking in as the game approached the hour mark, only for Matt Halliday to produce a superb last ditch tackle to foil the midfielder on the edge of the box.
But it wasn’t long before the home side finally breached Wroxham’s defence, Spence atoning for his earlier misses to level things in the 60th minute.
Perkins’ corner found the Thurrock captain unmarked at the near post, the midfielder making no mistake to bury his header past Juhasz and into the net.
Thurrock had the bit between their teeth as they pushed for a second, Aaron Taylor producing another last ditch tackle to deny Clark again, before Gordon cleared a Perkins header off the line with 20 minutes to go.
Jordan King replaced Marsden with five minutes to go and was thrust into the action straight away in a crazy passage of play.
The Wroxham substitute lost the ball on the edge of his own box to let Hazelwood in, who beat the sprawling Juhasz to find Charlie Stimson, the striker curling a lovely effort that looked destined for the top corner only for Halliday to head his effort off the line and onto the bar.
But the miss proved to be irrelevant as Knight produced last gasp heroics against Wroxham for the second time this season, the striker stooping to head in at the back post after Spence had lofted Juhasz’s punch back into the box, stealing all three points and breaking Wroxham hearts in the process.
