The home side were totally dominant from the off but couldn’t find a breakthrough, Jordan King blocking David Laird’s effort on the line and Robert Juhasz saving well from Stan Muguo down to his left.
Their dominance continued in the second half and they bagged two quick goals to take the game away from Wroxham, Laird striking into the top corner from eight yards after 50 minutes, before Alex Read placed his shot into the bottom left corner nine minutes later to double their lead.
Kieren Joseph missed a gilt edged chance to get Wroxham back into it with 20 minutes to go, lifting his effort over both goalkeeper and bar when through on goal.
But Harlow were never in any real danger and they added gloss to the victory as Read bagged his second, tapping in at the back post after Jamie Smith’s corner wasn’t properly cleared to seal the win.
Wroxham never really got going in difficult conditions, and despite some heroic defending in the first half, Harlow’s – and Read’s – quality shone through as they eventually eased to a well deserved win.
Wroxham made two changes from the side that beat Waltham Abbey, Jack Guyton dropping to the bench with Kieren Joseph taking his place, while Jordan King deputised at centre back for the missing Ben Price.
The swirling wind was causing havoc from the off but it was the home side who seemed to settle to the conditions better, league top scorer Alex Read forcing Robert Juhasz into a smothered stop at his near post with five minutes gone.
The Slovakian ‘keeper then lost the flight of a whipped ball in as Harlow began to turn the screw, the ball falling to David Laird whose weak effort was easily stopped by King on the line.
Laird then had another chance after 19 minutes as Harlow looked to press home their advantage, miss timing a header onto his shoulder when well placed from James Smith’s ball in.
Wroxham were spending long periods of time camped in their own half as they battled against the strong wind.
Juhasz was busy in goal, stopping two 21st minute efforts in quick succession, first from Smith’s ball in that was unconvincingly punched away, before Stan Muguo’s placed effort from the resulting clearance was well stopped down to the ‘keepers left.
Read was creating a lot of industry up top for the home side without much quality, his first real opportunity coming with 31 minutes on the clock, the striker finding space on the edge of the box to fire in a well struck shot that Juhasz beat away confidently.
The Wroxham attack was being made to feed off scraps, a speculative 25 yard volley from Stephen Drake that flew wide the best they could muster.
At the back, they were defending stoutly, Juhasz blocking a Donny Barnard effort at his near post to help Wroxham keep it goalless at the break.
Harlow continued in the same vein as the second half began, Laird having a second effort cleared off the line by King after Wroxham failed to clear a Smith ball in that hung in the air.
Smith’s balls in were causing a constant threat for the Wroxham defence, and it was another one of his crosses that ultimately undone the away side to give Harlow the lead after 50 minutes.
The winger was set free from a long punt forward that fell his way before he cut in on his right, firing in an awkward cross that Wroxham failed to clear, the ball falling to Laird who clinically dispatched his effort into the top right corner from six yards.
The wind was making no difference to the hosts as they continued to press the Wroxham defence, George Smith cutting in from the right before unleashing a darting shot that Juhasz did well to tip wide.
With the hosts on top, it wasn’t surprising they doubled their lead as the game reached the hour mark.
Some smart place down the left by Layne Eadie created another cross that Wroxham failed to clear, the ball falling to Read from eight yards, who twisted and turned before firing a well-placed effort in off the left upright for 2-0.
Wroxham finally came to life as the game entered the last 20 minutes, Ross Durrant firing a half volley from just outside the box that was well tipped over by James May in goal, before Kieren Joseph missed a golden opportunity to get his side back in the game.
A long kick forward by Juhasz deceived the Harlow defence and set the striker free, the ball sitting up nicely only for him to lift his effort over the bar when he really should have hit the target.
Harlow were in complete control as the game entered the last ten, left back Eadie forcing Juhasz into a smart stop with a drilled effort, before Read sealed the win for his side with his second of the game.
A swirling corner from Smith fell to Chinedu McKenzie, who missed his first attempt with an air shot before dinking a lovely ball to the back post that Juhasz missed, G. Smith laying the ball across for Read to simply tap in from two yards.
And 3-0 was how it stayed as the home side eased over the line to complete a dominant win, and continue their march up the Ryman North table.
