The visitors raced into a two goal lead early on, Darelle Russell’s 5th minute effort followed up by Joe Pearman’s composed penalty three minutes later for 2-0.
Wroxham got one back just before the break through Ross Durrant’s strike from the edge of the box, before the striker doubled his tally with a well taken diving header after 53 minutes to make things level.
Remy Gordon then curled a sublime 58th minute effort from the edge of the box for 3-2, before Tom Bruno drilled into the bottom corner five minutes later to restore parity.
But Gordon had the last say, scuffing in a 67th minute effort off the post to retake the lead and secure a memorable win for his side.
Wroxham were without suspended duo Matt Halliday and Daniel Self, with Aaron Sanders and Ben Price taking their place, the latter sporting the captain’s armband for the afternoon.
The Abbotts made an electric start and found themselves two up within the first eight minutes.
Darelle Russell bagged the first, finding space just inside the box to fire past Robert Juhasz and into the bottom left corner after Tom Bruno dinked the ball through to the striker with Wroxham short at the back.
And it wasn’t long before they made it 2-0, Joe Pearman clinically dispatching an eighth minute penalty to double his side’s lead.
The Abbots broke down the right, with Russell deceiving Aaron Taylor to cut into the box, the defender going to ground and intercepting the ball with his hand.
Alistair Wilson pointed at the spot, with Pearman confidently striking his penalty into the right corner with Juhasz going the wrong way.
The away side were on top and they almost had a third in the 13th minute, Russell again the instigator with a lovely through ball for James Peagram, who could only lift his effort high and wide with Juhasz well advanced out of his area.
Russell was proving to be a constant threat to the home side with his strength and movement, and he should have doubled his tally for the game with 17 minutes on the clock.
Bruno picked out an inch perfect cross for the striker, who found himself free from six yards but could only place his weak header straight at Juhasz.
Wroxham began to get themselves back into the game as it reached the midway point of the half, Joe Marsden breaking through from Stephen Drake’s through ball, only for his lob to drift away from goal.
Ross Durrant then had a long range left footed effort that was well saved by Ben Barnes down to his right as they pushed for a response.
Pawel Guziejko thrust new signing Kieran Joseph into the fold in an attempt to give his side more potency in attack, but it was the visitors who continued to press.
Russell another attempt easily smothered by Juhasz, before Loren Maxwell had a great chance to make it three.
The striker pounced on Peagram’s through ball to round the Wroxham ‘keeper, only to overrun the ball and eventually foul Taylor in an attempt to tap in.
Wroxham then found a way back into the game out of nowhere with five minutes left of the half.
Aaron Sanders’ cross-field ball found its way to Durrant, who twisted and turned on the edge of the box, before finding space to strike his well placed effort past Barnes and into the far left corner for 2-1.
The home side started the second half with the winds at their backs – and in their sails – as Durrant grabbed his second of the game to level the score.
Some probing wing play from Aaron Sanders in the 49th minute allowed Joe Marsden space from the edge of the box, the right back whipping in a superb cross for Durrant to connect with a diving header and beat Barnes at his near post.
The Yachtsmen were in the ascendancy, Aaron Sanders blazing over from a good position just inside the box after a Gordon burst down the left.
And it wasn't long before The Yachtsmen took the lead for the first time in the game as Gordon bagged his first.
A superb through ball from Durrant allowed Gordon the chance to break, the winger holding up play well before a neat one two with the advanced Marsden gave him space on the edge of the box to curl a sublime effort into the top left corner.
The lead didn’t last long though as Bruno bagged the goal his play deserved with 64 minutes on the clock, capitalising on Wroxham’s failure to clear their lines to drill into the bottom left corner for 3-3.
With the game ebbing and flowing in a tenacious fashion, it was Wroxham who drew blood next to seize control again, Gordon bagging his second with 23 minutes left.
Some neat one touch play broke Stephen Drake free, the striker having the initial chance that rebounded back to him, allowing the striker to lay it back into Gordon’s path, who somewhat scuffed his effort into the far corner off the post.
Both teams were still pressing for more in a superb display of attacking football, Russell blazing over from three yards for Waltham when he really should have scored, before Joseph headed wide when free at the back post as the game entered the last ten.
The visitors were pushing hard for an equaliser as the game reached its dying embers, but the Yachtsmen’s defence held strong to secure their second consecutive home win.
