The Yachtsmen made a quick fire start and scored two goals in the opening 20 minutes, Joe Marsden’s retaken penalty after seven minutes opening the scoring, before Aaron Taylor smashed in his effort from Marsden’s corner to double their advantage.
Kyle Asante got Aveley back into the game with a well taken finish as Wroxham failed to clear their lines, before Remy Gordon restored Wroxham's two goal lead with a fine effort.
Asante bagged his second with eight minutes remaining as Aveley looked for a way back into the game, before Leader’s injury time double salvo turned the game on its head to complete a unbelievable 4-3 win.
Pawel Guziejko will be wondering how his men lost a game that looked to be heading towards a confidence boosting victory, with three goals for the visitors in the final 12 minutes giving the Wroxham boss a real question over his player’s ability to defend a lead.
In an open start, with both teams finding holes in their opponents defences, it was Wroxham who looked the more dangerous, almost taking the lead as early as the second minute as Fernando Vide’s cross wasn’t cleared, with Remy Gordon being crowded out with his attempt.
They didn’t have to wait too long before going ahead however, Joe Marsden winning and converting a seventh minute penalty in controversial circumstances.
The right back played a neat one-two with Vide before driving into the box only to be bundled over.
Stepping up with a 100% record from the spot so far, Marsden’s attempt was weak and easily saved by Jack Giddens, only for Wroxham to be given a second chance after the referee ordered a retake for encroachment.
Marsden kept his composure to step up a fire a second attempt into the top right hand corner with panache to make things 1-0.
Vide then missed a great chance to make things 2-0 but fired over from six yards after a great driving run from Aaron Sanders as the hosts turned the screw.
The Yachtsmen were looking dangerous every time they attacked, but the visitors began to settle, with Aaron Cranfield having to be quick at his near post from Sam Holloway’s corner with 15 on the clock.
Another great chance for Wroxham to double their lead went begging as Remy Gordon’s one on one effort was well stopped by Giddens.
However, the home side were not made to rue these missed chances as they got the second their play deserved through an unlikely source.
Marsden’s 20th minute corner wasn’t properly cleared, with the ball falling to defender Aaron Taylor, who struck his effort through a crowd of players and into the roof of the net for his first goal for the club.
Despite the two goal deficit, the visitors began to get more of a foothold in the game as the half wore on.
Holloway’s 23rd minute free kick went straight through everyone and just past the back post, before they missed two chances in a minute to half their arrears.
Aaron Sanders foiled the first attempt with a superb block on the line, the youngster sliding in to clear Ade Osifuwa’s dinked effort after 35 minutes, before Petrit Elbi flicked his near post header from Holloway’s corner just past the back upright.
The Aveley manager sent his players out with a flea in their ears with an aggressive half time talk, and it worked as the visitors found a way back into the game.
Sam Harty gave away a silly free kick after 54 minutes and despite clearing the initial ball with a good header, the ball found its way back in instantly to Kyle Asante, who took a touch before firing a low shot past Cranfield to half Aveley’s arrears.
Femi Orenuga almost completed the comeback three minutes later as Aveley began to press, the winger beating Marsden with ease before looping his effort over the bar from a tight angle.
Tim Cary failed to connect properly with Gordon’s dangerous delivery at the back post as Wroxham looked for a response, before Gordon himself turned from supplier to recipient as they extended the lead to two goals once more with 25 minutes remaining.
Cary broke up the play in midfield before setting Vide on his way, the midfielder laying a lovely ball into the path of Gordon, who raced past his opponent before curling a superb strike into the top left corner.
The game was beginning to get scrappy as it entered the final 15, Asante taking advantage of Wroxham’s inability to clear a bobbling ball in the box to grab his – and Aveley’s – second with another well struck finish in the 82nd minute.
And Jay Leader turned the game completely on its head with his injury time heroics, first nodding in at the near post to level things, before the defender nicked in again to deflect Aryan Tajbakhsh’s late free kick to break Wroxham hearts and seal an unlikely win for his team.
