The first half was a story of two penalties, Joe Marsden converting his fourth spot kick of the season for Wroxham in the 31st minute, before Paul Clayton restored parity with his own 12 yard strike with two minutes left of the half.
Romford then took the lead through Nick Reynolds’ potshot after 57 minutes, but Wroxham dug in and got the equaliser they deserved with 68 minutes gone, Tim Cary smashing through a crowd of players to grab his first goal of the season.
And Gordon had the last say, latching onto Sam Harty’s pass to calmly slot his effort into the bottom right corner and earn The Yachtsmen their first win in the league since the start of October.
Wroxham showed no sign of low morale due to their recent slump and fully deserved the win, with Gordon and Marsden the main aggressors in an impressive attacking display.
It was the visitors who started the better, applying some good early pressure but were unable to create any clear cut chances.
Wroxham were beginning to find more space as they settled, and it was Gordon who benefitted from this after ten minutes to round goalkeeper Atu Ngoy but after the winger was pushed too wide to shoot, his pull back found Harty who was unable to control.
Harty was showing the kind of attacking prowess from midfield that has been missing in his absence, and the young midfielder burst through after 24 minutes to find himself one on one with Ngoy, but he pulled his shot wide when he really should have tested the ‘keeper.
Romford were struggling to deal with Wroxham’s attack, and The Yachtsmen got the lead their play deserved as Joe Marsden produced a piece of magic with 31 minutes on the clock.
The right sided player’s slick Cruyff turn on the edge of the box took him inside the line and invited the push, which duly came to give referee Guy no choice but to point at the spot.
Marsden dusted himself off to coolly slot his spot kick into the bottom right hand corner, with Ngoy guessing the right way but unable to get a hand on it.
As Wroxham pushed for a second – with Jack Smith snatching at an effort from 10 yards in their best chance – it was Romford who benefitted from the man in the black as Marsden turned from hero to villain with two minutes left of the half.
Reece Tranter found himself inside the box but was bundled down by Marsden, with captain Paul Clayton stepping up to fire his effort straight down the middle and make things level at the break
Wroxham came out all guns blazing in the second half, missing two good chances in the first five minutes to retake the lead.
Gordon pulled one effort wide, before Matt Halliday found himself in the opposition penalty area but could only fire his shot weakly at Ngoy.
Romford then stunned the on looking Wroxham faithful as they took the lead, Nick Reynolds flailing a leg out to a ball across the box to find the corner and give the visitors the lead after 57 minutes.
Wroxham should have got back into it straight away, with Gordon striking the post after a lovely Marsden ball, with the rebound falling to Jack Smith whose effort flew over the bar with the goal at his mercy.
They then got the equaliser they deserved as Tim Cary bagged his first goal of the season in emphatic style.
The young winger picked the ball up on the right hand side, before firing his effort through a crowd of players and into the bottom corner.
This roused The Yachtsmen, Gordon almost acrobatically giving his side the lead only for his overhead kick to be plucked out of the air just below the crossbar by Ngoy.
But the winger didn’t have to wait long to grab his ninth goal of the season as Harty ghosted past a number of players before finding Gordon, who composed himself to slot the ball into the bottom right hand corner in what is becoming a trademark finish.
Romford rallied in the final stages, with Abs Seymour’s rising effort and Robbie Norris’ header the best they could muster as Wroxham held out for the win and end their recent horror run.
