This was the first league encounter between the two sides.
Goals from Andy Eastaugh and Ben Thompson 5 minutes before the end of each half sealed the victory, in a game with few real chances.
Wroxham fielded the same side which kept a clean sheet away at Needham on Tuesday, but were dealt an early blow when winger Jamie Speller pulled up after just 10 minutes and had to be replaced by Ben Lewis.
Competing well and on top territorially, The Yachtsmen had to contend with yet another piece of bad luck after 20 mins when Matty Daniels withdrew after tweaking a hamstring. Angelo Harrop replaced him and instantaneously dominated the ball, passing well and pulling the strings in midfield. The home side began pressing harder and created several half chances that came to nothing.
With half time approaching Ross Durrant, breaking from a defensive corner, hit an excellent 40 yard switched ball which striker Ben Thompson did well to bring under control and set to the on rushing Ben Jones, whose shot was palmed wide by the visiting goalkeeper.
The resulting corner delivered by Harrop, was subsequently smashed home by Andy Eastaugh to give the home side a deserved half time lead.
HT Wroxham 1-0 Brentwood
The early stages of the second half saw the visitors respond with lots of possession without really hurting the Wroxham back line. In fact, goalkeeper Jessup's save in the 53rd minute was the only attempt on target mustered by the opposition all day, despite throwing everything at the game as they sensed their play off dream sliding away.
Gradually The Yachtsmen gained control again and the game then opened out with both sides looking promising in possession.
After 70 minutes striker Matt Blake was replaced by young Sam Harty who excelled in his midfield role and alongside the excellent Jones & Harrop added even more energy into a midfield performance which had seen the visitors closed down at every opportunity.
With Wroxham looking a threat on the break, Ross Durrant now playing in a forward role supplied a pin point pass to Thompson who out paced the Brentwood back line and calmly slotted a left foot finish past the on rushing goalkeeper to seal the points 5 minutes from time.
