Wroxham comfortable winners after early Redbridge scare

Wroxham comfortable winners after early Redbridge scare

Tom Joyce12 Apr 2013 - 20:39

Wroxham ended up winning 4-1 against the team at the bottom of the Ryman League.

Wroxham looked good against a Redbridge team that are fighting relegation, who later in the week went on to beat Brentwood 3-0.

The hosts opened the scoring completely against the run of play early on with a 30 yard volley which screamed into the top corner.

This didnt deter the Yachtsmen though, in a first half which saw them muster 12 shots, hit the bar and score 2 goals.

Jamie Speller fired in the equaliser from a free kick, and shortly afterwards, Halliday set Eastaugh to finish from close range to give the visitors the lead.

Wroxham enjoyed a purple patch for the next 15 minutess and looked like they would score at will, with a fine move resulting in the ball bouncing off the bar from 2 yards. The Yachtsmen couldn't ask any more to the score however, and had to settle for a 2-1 lead at the break.

The second half continued in much the same vein and a fine piece of play from Ross Durrant saw a pin point whipped cross arrive in the box for Speller to smash home on the volley to extend Wroxhams lead.

Immediately afterwards, Daniels was replaced by Harrop and Blake replaced Speller. Cook also entered the field for Durrant and he immediately went close.

It was Cooks link up play with Blake which increased Wroxhams comfortable lead and gave Thompson a deserved goal to make it 4-1, who volleyed home from 20 yards before the end.
