With Wroxham manager David Batch on holiday,Steve Eastaugh and
John Edridge took charge from the bench and three changes
were made to the starting line up that triumphed 4-3 over
Thamesmead Town in the Yachtsmen's last Ryman league
division 1 match.
In-coming Danny Self, Matt Blake and Gavin Lemmon in the
un-familiar Centre Half position, Ben Lewis, Martin McNeil and
Christy Finch all rested, the latter to the Substitute's bench for
this encounter with Waltham Abbey.
Wroxham were first on the attack on 4mins when following a
good ball from Ross Durrant, Remy Gordon's shot come cross
flew over the bar.
A minute later a mix up in the Waltham defence produced an
opening for the Yachtsmen, Matt Blake finding Ben Thompson,
who over ran the ball, Abbey keeper Jake Whincup saving
at the striker's feet.
On 10mins a well taken free kick from Waltham's Clark Akers
produced a fine save from Michael Hilton in the Wroxham goal.
The game became scrappy with the Yachtsmen just about on top
for the first twenty minutes when Remy Gordon made a good left
wing run before he fired the ball across the Abbey goal, with no
Wroxham player on hand to prosper.
The match was now being played beneath a Hale storm and the
game turned on it's head when JAMES PEAGRAM found himself
un-marked in the Wroxham penalty box to shoot Waltham in front
from out of nothing.
0n 22mins another good delivery from Yachtsmen number three
Remy Gordon was not met by an in-coming attacking man in a
blue shirt and Wroxham would go another goal down
only moment's later.
CLARK AKERS finding time and space in front of the Wroxham
back-line to shoot past the hapless Hilton to register Waltham
Abbey's second of the match on 28mins.
Wroxham were still winning the majority of possession without
finding any good goal scoring opening for the remainder of the
half untill Matt Blake fired a poor shot wide with Ross Durrant
standing in an un-marked postition.
Right on half time more good work from Remy Gordon on the
left earned the Ty a corner, Ross Durrant's kick was
cleared but only to Danny Self who found Durrant in space on
the left, the Wroxham number seven bringing a good save out
of Whincup in the Waltham Abbey goal.

Wroxham again dominated posession at the start of the second
half but still Waltham were resolute in defence.
A Matt Halliday cross which was saved and a Remy Gordon
corner that again cleared everyone in the Waltham box were the
only efforts of any note in the first 10mins of the restart.
Referee George Sprague handed out a booking to Josh Carus
for a heavy challenge before theYachtsmen finally had some
joy in front of the Abbey goal.
Following some determined play by Durrant, Gordon and Blake
linked up well before the man who started the move ROSS DURRANT
sent a well struck curling effort into Whincup's net on 57mins.
Angelo Harrop replaced Matt Blake on the hour for Wroxham and
they had captain Gavin Lemmon to thank for a good block on an
Ayrton Coley effort which appeared goal-bound.
As in the first, play became fragmented mid-way into the second
half, with no clear cut chances to speak of before the hard working
Durrant found space on the right sending in a pin-point cross
where REMY GORDON was on hand to head home a
deserved equaliser for the Yachtsmen on 76mins.
Christy Finch replaced Ben Thompson for the final 10mins and
Gavin Lemmon was the once again in the thick of things with more
good last ditch defending moments later and Waltham substitute
pairing Joe Pearman and Billy Jones both put shots wide of
the Wroxham goal on 90mins.
Joe Marsden replaced Daniels in stoppage time for Wroxham before
Maywell headed over for Waltham from a Jack Daveney cross.
