BOWES BREAKS THE YACHTSMEN

BOWES BREAKS THE YACHTSMEN

john allen13 Oct 2012 - 22:32

GARY BOWES BAGGED TWO LATE GOALS TO TAKE THE POINTS FOR HARLOW TOWN. .....BY JOHN ALLEN

Wroxham manager David Batch made three changes from the
starting line-up which lost to Tilbury the previous Saturday.

Jamie Speller,Angelo Harrop and Matt Daniels all welcomed
back while Andy Eastaugh,Matt Blake and Ross Durrant all
filled the sub's bench along with Ben Lewis and new signing
Christy Finch from Gorleston.

Wroxham came out strong for the start of this Ryman League
Division 1 encounter, dominating the opening 5mins but it was
host's Harlow Town who had the first shot on goal,
Mark Taylor going just wide of Hilton's net.

On 10mins following a free-kick,Jamie Speller found himself
in good space on the right but the wide-man wasted a good
crossing oppertunity with plenty of support in the
Harlow penalty area.

Wroxham were still dominating possession on 17mins but
it was again Harlow who went close, from a Jordan Gill
throw-in,Piers Wixon shot on the turn going narrowly wide
of the Yachtsmen goal.

2mins later Danny Self's throw-in found Gavin Lemmon,
Hawks keeper Bertrand Bosso saving well under pressure.
Self was in the action immediately after when Gary Bowes
raced clear with the ball, the Wroxham full-back doing well
to tackle back.

On 25mins a good through ball by Matt Daniels found
Angelo Harrop, his shot was well saved by Bosso.

The Yachtsmen then went close, twice, in as many minutes.

Lemmon's free kick was fired across the Harlow Goal to no
avail and Remy Gordon fired just over, shooting on the turn.

Wroxham almost took the lead by default on 36mins when
Hawks defender Amin Ibrahim mis-kicked his clearance, the
ball striking the Harlow crossbar, the resulting ball out of
defence found striker Jeff Hammond on the break but his
shot lacked power and was easily saved by Hilton in
the Wroxham goal.

Following some neat inter-change passing by the Yachtsmen
Gordon was unlucky to see his shot fly over a minute later
before good work by Ben Thompson and Jamie Speller found
Matt Daniels in an opening, the Yachtsman screwing his
shot wide from twelve yards out.

Harlow had the last chance of the half, from a Joe O'Donoghue
free-kick,Wixon headed over the bar.

The opening of the second half was end to end as both sides
went close twice in the first 10mins.

Harlow frontman Hammond found himself through on the
Wroxham goal but was narrowly adjudged off-side by Referee
Tom Ramsey before more good passing play by Wroxham
set up Lemmon, his shot smothered by Hawks
Captain, Stanley Muguo.

On 52mins Harlow's Josh Cooper shot over from a Gary Bowes
cross and Speller had a shot for theYachtsmen, Bossu
gathering the ball at the feet of advancing Wroxham fowards.

Harlow then squandered three oppertunities.

Bowes shot over the bar from a Wixon corner,Hector Mackie
had his well hit effort saved by Michael Hilton for Wroxham,
before Hammond did well to keep the ball in play before
running into the Yachtsmen box and shooting wide.

On 60mins Harrop did well to emerge with the ball before
finding Thompson who's effort was smothered by Bosso
in the Harlow goal.

Josh Carus went into the Referee's notebook on 65mins,
awarding Harrow a free-kick on the edge of the box,
Mark Taylor shot straight at Hilton.

Christy Finch replaced Harrop on 67mins with Wroxham
still on top of possession and Ross Durrant had his good
effort saved by the busy Bossu in the Hawks goal.

On 75mins Harlow number ten Wixon had his shot well
saved by Hilton, the resulting corner cleared by Wroxham.

Matt Blake replaced Thompson for Wroxham on 80mins
before Christy Finch's cross found Durrant, who shot wide of
the Harlow goal.

Somewhat against the run of play Harlow took the lead on 82mins
GARY BOWES found an opening on the penalty spot, the ball
bouncing up for the Hawks number ten to fire his side infront.

Harlow wrapped the game up on 88mins when BOWES found
himself clear as Wroxham committed players foward for the
equaliser, with time to compose himself, before firing past
Hilton to score his second of the match.
