Forshaw is Swift to make his mark

Chris Green7 Nov 2012 - 10:39

Jamie Forshaw struck his first goal for Wroxham as they extended their unbeaten run to five games with a comfortable Ryman League victory over high flying Heybridge at Trafford Park.

But the goal of the night and perhaps the season came from substitute Christy Finch, who had replaced Forshaw, in a stunning strike from 25 yards for the third goal.
Wroxham started brightly as a Ross Durrant snap shot on 5 minutes was just wide of the post.
Heybridge showed why they had risen to second spot with some strong attacking play and Remi Matthews on his home debut did well to block a shot at close range by Michael Ckeek.
On 25 minutes Cheek capitalised on a defensive mix-up but from an acute angle shot well wide.
Wroxham took the lead on 29 minutes when a deep ball into the box from Matt Halliday was played down by Gavin Lemmon into the path of Matt Blake who beat the goalkeeper from close range.
A good build up down the right allowed Ross Durrant sight of goal and his shot was well tipped over by the keeper.
A one-two between Blake and Forshaw saw Blake’s shot blocked but Jamie Forshaw was on hand to tap in a second for the Yachtsmen on 39 minutes.

Matthews need to be aleart early in the second half over a header from Adam Brotherton at the far post as Heybridge tried to get back in the game.
But Wroxham were still in charge as Blake’s cross found Forshaw whose shot on the turn was deflected wide.
Heybridge took off Luke Callender who was effectively marked by Martin McNeil returning to the Wroxham side. Cheek again shot wide from the edge of the area as Wroxham kept most of the visitors efforts at long range.
A strong run by Blake through the middle almost set him free but he was blocked by a last defender.
The vistors made further substitutions as they tried to find their way back but it was again Wroxham who had the better chances ae Blake’s header was narrowly wide from Harrop’s corner to the near post on 68 minutes.
Wroxham then made their own substitutions with Jack Smith coming on for Durant and Finch on for Forshaw.
This paid off eight minutes from time with Finch turning on the edge of the area to hit a storming hit into the top corner that gave Nick Eyre no chance.
Wroxham made a further substitution with Ben Lewis replacing Harrop but there was no further score as the home side took the points to move up to 10th in the table.
