Chatham Town 1 Wroxham 1

YACHTSMEN ESCAPE WITH A POINT A combination of poor finishing and excellent goal keeping by Michael Hilton earns Wroxham a point at Chatham Town.

Wroxham manager David Batch handed new signing Angello Harrop
his debut in midfield replacing Matt Daniels, un-available
due to family commitments and Andy Eastaugh was back in the
starting line-up with Remy Gordon making way on the bench.

The game kicked off on a dry,bone-hard pitch and neither side
got the better of the conditions in the early stages of this
Ryman North Division encounter and it would be 10mins old
before Wroxham debutante Harrop sent a long range effort wide
of the Chatham goal.

On 15mins good work by Chats left-back Mark Lewis proceeded
his cross finding Jack Pallen who put the ball wide when it
seemed as though he had to score and five minutes later
Chatham number seven Jamie Lawrence saw his header go wide
of the Wroxham goal when he should have really scored.

Mid-way into the half Danny Self sent a looping ball into the
Chatham half finding Matt Blake, the Yachtsmen striker sending
his shot wide of Roberts goal.

The luck would be on Wroxham's side again moments later
following McNeil's slip up in defence Chatham forward
Sigere failing to capitlise, blazing his shot over Hilton's
crossbar.

Play then went straight to the other end,Blake found himself
in space, his shot well saved by Chats keeper Roberts to give
Wroxham a corner kick, Harrop's well delivered cross was met
by the in coming MARTIN McNEIL who headed home against the
run of play.

Wroxham's lead would be a short lived one as Chatham captain
Brad Potter found time and space on the edge of the Wroxham
box to send his well placed shot just inside Hilton's
left hand post for the equaliser.

Chatham's dominance would continue until half time,Gary Tilley's
shot was well saved by Wroxham keeper Hilton and from
Lawrence's resulting corner Chatham,s Matt Newman saw his
shot excellently saved by Hilton, diving at full stretch to
keep the Yachtsmen in the game.

H-T CHATHAM TOWN 1 WROXHAM 1

The second half started as the first had finished with
Chatham looking the most likely to score and on 48mins
Jack Pallen became the latest Chats player to shoot wide
of the charmed Wroxham goal.

On 50mins Matt Halliday replaced the out of sorts Speller
for Wroxham in a bid to curtail the Chatham dominance of the
match and the Yachtsmen would be forced into another change
on the hour when Josh Turner would fall foul to the poor
playing surface dislocating his knee, to be replaced
by Remy Gordon.

The majority of play continued in the Wroxham half and on
64mins Josh Carus did well to block Chatham's Lee Hayes goal
bound effort and moments later the Chats number eight's
free-kick found Brad Potter who put his header wide.

On 73mins Wroxham fashioned a rare attacking move following
some neat passing Angello Harrop found Ben Thompson who's
shot lacked power to trouble Roberts in the Chatham goal.

With 10mins remaining tempers flared and Chatham would
consider themselves fortunate not go down to ten men when
Thompson appeared to be stamped on which provoked an
angry reaction from the Yachtsmen, the out-come resulting
in a booking for Wroxham captain Gavin Lemmon and two
Chatham players.

With five minutes of the ninety to play Wroxham were awarded
a free kick on the edge of the Chatham box,Danny Self
stepping up to blast his kick over Roberts crossbar and the
Wroxham full-back fashioned himself another scoring chance
right on full time,Roberts denying the Yachtsman a last
minute winner.
