Wroxham Insider20 Nov 2011 - 20:28

Wroxham continue to lead the Premier Division after scoring 5 second half goals in their 6-0 home win against CRC on Saturday

CRC started quite brightly and a quickly taken free-kick saw full back Lewis Smith get forward and his cross had the Wroxham defence at sixes and sevens before finally clearing the danger. The visitors almost took advantage of a poor of a poor lay off by Ben Thompson allowing Keiron Westwood to cross for Ryan Ingley who was about to pull the trigger but the assistants flag was raised for offsife.

CRC were playing some attractive football but Wroxham started to take charge with a series of corners which were mainly dealt with by the CRC defence. But Paul Cook’s shot was on target only for a deflection to bring up Wroxham 6th corner. Then a shot from Matty Daniels brought a great save from Martin Trunca for another corner. From this Wroxham took the lead on 20 minutes when Lemmon’s cross to the far post brought a glancing header from Paul Cook off his shoulder and in the net.

This was followed by another close effort from Andy Eastaugh whose header was wide as Wroxham started to get some wind in their sails and were getting on top. Lemmon was booked for a robust challenge on 22 mins while a header from Paul Cousins was just over.

On 35 minutes good work by Thompson saw him lay the ball back to Gary Gilmore in full stride but his half volley on the run also went over. Another shot on the turn by Thompson was well saved by Trunca and Wroxham were unable to add to their lead before the break

Almost immediately after the home side went two-up when CRC’s centre-back Macauleigh Richard tried to pass back to his keeper but the ball was well short and Cook pounced to score his and Wroxham’s second firing majestically past Trunca.

Wroxham then had a purple patch with three goals in less than ten minutes. The third came on 55 minutes when Ben Thompson turned across the penalty area to get in a low left shot that bounced in front of the diving visitor’s keeper into the bottom corner.

The home side were playing some excellent football and tore the CRC defence apart again when Andy Eastaugh’s shot flashed past the post. A minute later they were four ahead with another good move that enabled Gav Lemmon to pick his spot in the bottom corner.

It was time to bring on the subs and Damian Hilton returning after a broken toe, immediately scored the fifth when he found space on the right of the area and lobbed the ball over Trunca who was off his line . The former Wroxham player manager pointed to his foot to show it was fully mended!

Jordan Rocastle replaced Thopmson and he was soon in the action although a shot from CRC ‘s sub Owen Kabodi swerved ackwardly for Scott Howie to make a fine save.

David Hinton came on for Daniels and he was almost on the end of good work by Rocastle who pulled the ball back from the by-line but his left shot went the wrong side of the post.

The visitors were becoming a spent force and a poor foul by Richards on Lemmon was punished with a yellow card although he was lucky it wasn’t red.

Wroxham scored a 6th late on when Remy Gordon who had a good game set up Rocastle who side stepped a defender and fired into the net.
