Wroxham moved four points clear at the top of the Ridgeons Premier Division with a thumping 7-0 victory over lowly Newmarket Town.
The Yachtsmen enjoyed a 2-0 lead going into the half-time interval, but a five goal avalanche in the second-half ensured a vital three points to increase their lead over Brantham.
Despite the scoreline this was far from being a vintage Wroxham display: especially within the opening 30 minutes of the game as the hosts struggled to pass the ball with any urgency or tempo.
Ex-King’s Lynn defender Paul Cousins had Wroxham’s first real chance of the afternoon after 18 minutes when he saw his effort from Shaun Howes’ corner cleared off the line.
Fellow defender Danny Self, getting forward to good effect, then went close with a angled drive that shaved the left-hand post.
With half-an-hour played Jockeys’ skipper David Grainger handed Wroxham the break they needed with a careless lunge at Gavin Lemmon in the area. The same player had no trouble to pick himself up to coolly dispatch the resulting penalty.
Paul Cook scored five minutes before half-time to give the leaders a two goal cushion. Lemmon’s corner was flicked on at the near-post from Graham Challen and Cook netted from close-range.

Three goals inside the space of six second-half minutes from Damien Hilton, a second for Cook and Andy Eastaugh’s delightful lob ended any faint hopes the visitors may have had of salvaging something from the game.
Sub Jordan Rocastle made it six in the 81st minute with a fine individual effort as he toyed with his marker before rifling an unstoppable low drive past Kevin Bugg.
Rocastle then completed the route after good play between David Hinton and Ryan Oakley presented the striker with his eighth goal of the season.
