Table toppers Wroxham went into this game off the back of 5 straight wins, but knew they had to come out of the blocks quickly against a Hadleigh side that put 6 without reply past second place Brantham earlier in the week.
The Yachtsman did exactly this in some style in a blistering first 20 mins which saw them go two goals up courtesy of Andy Eastaugh and Paul Cook headers on 2 mins and 5 mins, directly from corner kicks - an area they knew they would create chances from.
Further chances fell to Gary Gilmore and the lively Ross Durrant but both failed to pull the trigger whilst well placed, electing for an extra pass instead.
For the rest of the half the visitors took over and Deacon fluffed an opportunity when left unmarked at a corner. He then blasted over the bar when faced with Howie to beat after a defensive slip.
With 5 mins of the half remaining and Daniels off the pitch receiving treatment, the referee bizarrely awarded a free kick on the edge of the Wroxham penalty area for 'high feet', when Ross Durrant was simply hooking the ball 30 yards up the pitch with a defender standing directly behind him.
From the resulting free kick Hadleigh scored after 43 minutes when a free kick from Jack Cawley came out to Danny Allen who netted with a firm low shot.
to make it 2-1 at half time.
HT Wroxham 2 Hadleigh 1
The second half continued as the first finished, with Hadleigh's direct style giving the Wroxham defenders plenty to head, and the midfielders plenty to watch fly over theirs. Deacon had a great opportunity to equalise as he went one v one with Howie for the second time, but the Wroxham stopper cleverly held him up long enough for Terrington to recover and clear.
By now Hadleigh were matching the league leaders and on the hour Shaun French replaced Deacon in an effort to get fresh legs on the pitch.
Soon afterwards a defensive slip saw the ball break between Challen and a Hadleigh midfielder, and despite protestations by Wroxham players for a foul, the referee waved play on as the ball as on loan Lee McGlone fired in a low shot which took a deflection to leave the Scott Howie well beaten for a deserved equaliser.
The equaliser spurred the visitors on, but it remained the only shot on target they had for the entire half despite putting the ball in the home sides box at every opportunity. However, following one of these crosses a swift counter attack ended with the once-again excellent Cook, wriggling away and drilling a shot at goal. With the goalkeeper again unable to deal with it, the ball landed at the feet of man mountain Eastaugh who drilled home the winner for Wroxham with just 5 mins remaining.
Durrant was unable to make the most of one more break away to kill the game, although the referee did find time to send off Gavin Lemmon for a foul which looked to be worthy of nothing more than a booking at most.
In truth this was one of the Yachtsmen's poorest performances of the season, but that should not take anything away from an energetic Hadleigh team who gave it their all or indeed, the toughness of the home side who demonstrated resilience despite being well below par.
