This weekend Wroxham face a daunting trip to Bromley where they face current Ryman League leaders Cray Wanderers.

Stewart Larter’s team will travel in a better frame of mind of late having recorded their first victory in 11 games. Wroxham progressed to the Quarter Finals of the Norfolk Senior Cup on Tuesday night with a 4-1 score line against Great Yarmouth Town. Goals from Nathan Stone, Ollie Ebbage and a brace from Michael Sommerfield brought cheer to the home support in a tie that all were happy to see concluded following three previous postponements. The Yachtsmen now face Kings Lynn Reserves at Trafford Park in January.

Today’s opponents currently sit top, four points clear of the second placed side and the Wands are also the league’s leading goalscorers. It is quite a turnaround to last season when the South London club were looking doomed to finish in the bottom 3 until a major injection of personnel saw them rise up the table to eventually finish comfortably in mid-table. Also coming into the club was Manager Tony Russell who had guided his previous club VCD Athletic to promotion to the Ryman Premier is their first season of Step Four football. A player expected to turn out for Cray is former Norwich City Under 18, Nathan Fox. The defender is currently on good form with two set-piece goals in his last two appearances for the club.

With a run of 3 games unbeaten, Stewart Larter will be looking forward to his football. After a period where players have been unavailable for one reason or another, he has been joyed by those who have been out injured returning to the squad. Unfortunately, one of those returnees, Jack Garrod, is not available for selection again this weekend however Andy Howell is available following a suspension. Also strengthening Wroxham’s defence this week is Daniel Foreman who has signed from Acle United.

On Tuesday night, Wroxham face Heybridge Swifts at Trafford Park (ko 7.45). the Swifts are currently bottom of the league so Larter’s men will face the two extremes of the league positions in two games.
