Wroxham return to Trafford Park for this weekend’s game against Great Wakering Rovers having conceded 10 goals in their last 2 outings.
Manager Stewart Larter faces a dilemma as he decides who should be the man with the goalkeeper gloves this weekend. As first choice stopper Elliot Pride has been injured, he has used youngster Kingsley Barnes against Maldon & Tiptree and brought in experienced Nathan Pauling last week against Thurrock. Both of them conceding 5 in each of those matches. Larter will also be hoping that one or two of the players that have missed recent games are available to assist his defence although Jackson Ramm remains suspended.
Upfront Ashley Jarvis should make his home debut having started last Saturday against Thurrock. He returns to the ground where he put 2 past the Yachtsmen in the FA Cup earlier this season impressing the home support so they will be looking forward to more of the same. Also making his debut this weekend is Assistant Manager Neil Jarvis who will be in the home dug-out for the first time at Trafford Park as the Yachtsmen have not been on home soil since 17th October.
Wroxham despite their run of late currently sit in 17th place in the league, 2 places and 6 points below their opponents although Rovers have played 4 games more. A victory would be most welcome therefore to Stewart Larter’s side. In the corresponding fixture in Essex in August, the Yachtsmen ran out 4-3 winners with a brace from Nathan Stone and Nick Davey and Jordan King netting. Since that game Great Wakering have been on a downward curve which ultimately resulted in a change of management team for the Essex side.
On Tuesday night, the Yachtsmen begin the defence of their Norfolk Senior Cup title with a home game against Great Yarmouth Town (ko. 7.45). The Bloaters currently sit second in the Thurlow Nunn First Division and will be looking to get a giant-killing against their opponents who play two levels higher.
