Luke Tuttle strikes twice as Wroxham lose the bragging rights of Norfolk for this year.

Adrian Gowling14 Oct 2015 - 18:35

A Luke Tuttle double including a penalty saw Dereham claim their second victory in as many weeks against Wroxham.

Wroxham were beaten by local rivals Dereham for the second time in as many weeks at Aldiss Park. A Luke Tuttle double was the difference between the two sides on this occasion however the Yachtsmen should not be downhearted by the result.

The Wroxham squad had a few minor changes from the team that won away at Redbridge on Saturday. Elliot Pride remained in goal, Jackson Ramm, Olllie Ebbage, Matt Halliday and Stephen Taylor played in an unchanged defence for the blues. David Hinton, Jordan King and Jack Guyton started in midfield which saw the addition of Charlie Norman wide left who replaced Nathan Stone. Jamie Forshaw and Danny Beaumont started up top for the Yachtsmen, Danny Rust was joined on the bench by Jordan Attree, Marcus Wilkinson, Matty Waters and Kingsley Barnes.

Wroxham started the game brightly. A switch of play over the defence 5 minutes in from Jamie Forshaw found Charlie Norman wide left, Norman cut in onto his right foot but failed to keep the ball down as it flew over the bar for a goal kick. Then only 2 minutes later a cross from Stephen Taylor again down the left hand side saw a powerful header from Danny Beaumont on the penalty spot very well saved by Dereham Town goalkeeper Will Viner. With 15 minutes gone Elliot Pride was called into action for the first time, a shot to the left of the Wroxham keeper was very well kept out and pushed away from danger.

After 20 minutes, as the game had settled down from a lively start the Yachtsmen had a few good chances to take the lead. First of all a shot from distance by Jordan King was poorly hit but still forced a save from the Dereham keeper. Viner was called into action again after a curling free kick from Jamie Forshaw was saved to the right of the goal. The best chance of this little spell of pressure saw a run from Jack Guyton into the box who finished with a well-placed shot to the right of Viner which was fantastically saved to keep the scores level.

Even though Wroxham were pushing for a goal, Dereham were still looking dangerous on the counter-attack. With 33 minutes gone Ryan Crisp's run through on goal saw Pride knock the ball away from the Magpies forward. Unfortunately for Wroxham, the Dereham forward went over to give the home side a chance to get a goal before half time from the penalty spot. Elliot Pride was not punished any further by the referee but the penalty still remained, Luke Tuttle stepped up and smashed the ball to the left of Pride to give the home side an advantage going into half time.

But there was still 10 minutes before half time for the Yachtsmen to try to find an equaliser after their impressive first half display. The best chance coming in the 40th minute. A corner was whipped into the far post which saw a header from Matt Halliday down to the left hand corner be cleared off the line and put out for a corner. Then in stoppage time of the first half, a fantastic cross from Jackson Ramm from the right hand side was met by the head of Danny Beaumont. This forced a top corner save from the Dereham 'keeper, who was having an inspired game for the home side..

Wroxham were again quickly out of the blocks after the half-time break. With only 5 minutes gone in the second half a pass inside from Jack Guyton found Jordan King whose magnificent turn and pass to Danny Beaumont at a tight angle thunderbolt against the right-hand post. This would have been a wonderful team goal for the visitors. The majority of the second half saw fantastic runs down each wing in the Dereham half end in a catch from the home side’s keeper.

The 70th minute saw the Yachtsmen make their first change of the evening. Jack Guyton was replaced by Matty Waters. Only 1 minute later though Dereham doubled their lead to make it 2-0. The ball found Luke Tuttle in the box, and he finished well to the right of the 'keeper. With 10 minutes to go Wroxham made another substitution withdrawing Charlie Norman for Jordan Attree. But with a few half chances for Wroxham in the last few minutes, none found the back of the net and saw Dereham take the 3 points.

Overall Wroxham did have a lot of possession and a number of chances to score, but the heroics of the Dereham Town keeper and some tame efforts from distance weren't enough to get anything from the game. However, the Yachtsmen can take a lot of positives from the game. As a team they played very well and apart from the 2 goals Elliot Pride wasn’t as involved as he had been against Dereham at Trafford Park. Jackson Ramm and Jack Guyton played wonderfully down the right hand side showing their quality to cause problems for the Dereham full back.
