Wroxham falter as Fallah is Aveley's star

Wroxham fell to their first home defeat of the season as they were torn apart by Aveley’s David Fallah. A first half hat-trick downed the Yachtsmen.

Wroxham fell to their first home defeat of the season as they were torn apart by Aveley’s David Fallah. A first half hat-trick from the pacey left-sided attacker and the sending off of Jackson Ramm was enough to knock the stuffing out of Stewart Larter’s men.

Wroxham made three changes to their starting XI following their F.A Cup loss to King’s Lynn last weekend. Kingsley Barnes started in goal in place for the suspended Elliot Pride. Debutant Jackson Ramm who signed on Thursday from King’s Lynn and Nathan Stone both started whilst youngsters Ollie Ebbage and Charlie Norman dropped out. Ebbage started on the bench alongside Danny Beaumont, Jack Guyton, Matty Waters and Seamus Kelleher.

Both teams started the game brightly. Aveley had an early free kick from James Peagan, but that was cleared away from danger by Wroxham captain David Hinton. The Yachtsmen then got into their stride and made a number of good opportunities. A through ball from Danny Rust was collected by Nick Davey advancing into the Aveley area but was deemed offside as he set to shoot. A shot from distance by Jamie Forshaw drifted went well wide of the left hand post. In the 7th minute Wroxham had a great opportunity to take the lead. Nathan Stone showed some great skill to beat the defender but no one was on the end of his cross and it was comfortably cleared, but the ball was only went as far as Jack Garrod whose weaving run into the box narrowly missed the toe of on-rushing Nick Davey.

As the Wroxham team were pushing forward, a counter attack by Aveley was on the cards. Wroxham’s Jackson Ramm was left exposed as Lee Prescott bore down on Kingsley Barnes’ goal. The defender looked as though he’d won the ball but referee Ady Sannerude saw otherwise and awarded a penalty. The man with the whistle then produced a red card much to the amazement of the Wroxham supporters. An incident that brought back memories of the dismissal of Elliot Pride against Soham recently. Aveley’s James Peagram stepped up and smashed the ball straight down the middle and into the back of the net to give the visitors the lead. The Yachtsmen had started much the better side and the goal and sending off were a double blow.

After the penalty Wroxham were fired up to reverse the injustice. Forshaw and Davey linked up well on the edge of the area before a shot from Nick Davey looked to be heading for the target but a deflection off an Aveley head took it wide of the post for a corner. From the corner the ball was met by the head of Matt Halliday who forced a good save from James Marrable. In the 19th minute, Wroxham’s attacking play brought its reward. A jinking run from the half-way line and some questionable defending saw Jack Garrod through on goal. The wide man then calmly took the ball around the keeper and slotted into the net to bring the scores level.

After the Wroxham goal, Aveley were spurred into life and started playing more attractive football. A good run from David Fallah saw a fantastic sliding tackle by Stephen Taylor. Peagram then found space on the edge of the box but his shot went well wide of the right hand post. The Aveley pressure took its toll on the stretched Wroxham defence as great play between David Fallah and Lee Prescott was finished off with a curling shot into the bottom right hand corner of the net from Fallah to give the visitors the lead for the second time. Two minutes later Farrah was on the score sheet again. This time placing the ball underneath Barnes to give Aveley a two goal cushion.

The game settled down after the two quick goals but in the 34th minute the game was back on. Jamie Forshaw picked the ball up in the centre of the pitch and unleashed a fantastic curling shot from 35 yards into the top corner of the net to give the Aveley keeper no chance. Aveley were not to be troubled for long in an entertaining end-to-end game as they restored their two goal cushion on the stroke of half time. A loose ball in the Wroxham area fell to Fallah who smartly despatched it past Barnes for his hat-trick.

In the 53rd minute Aveley put the game to bed. The Wroxham defence was having a tough time from the smart Aveley attacks. James Peagram had a simple chance to score but Stephen Taylor on the line managed to get back and head the ball away. The clearance eventually fell to Liam Nash who toe poked the ball into the net to make the score 2-5.

The game started to slowdown but Aveley were still on the ascendancy. Poor finishing from their attack as they had numerous chances to add to their convincing lead. The introduction of a number of substitutions from both sides didn’t have an effect as the visitors were able to comfortably see the game out.

The early sending off of Jackson Ramm was the game changer as David Fallah was able to make use of space it created in the Wroxham defence. The Yachtsmen have another home game next Saturday against Waltham Abbey and will be looking for a great deal of improvement to get back on track.
