Yachtsmen too good for Redbridge

Wroxham came up against a despondent Redbridge outfit who had lost their last game 7-0.

It showed as the Yachtsmen ran out easy winners, with two goals from Jamie Forshaw and one from Remy Gordon. Their opponents had few chances to test the visiting back four during what was a routine away victory.

Gordon opened the scoring after 37 minutes with a clinical finish after a neat header back by striker Christy Finch. The ball fell nicely for Gordon to volley past Parker in the Redbridge goal.

Almost immediately after the half-time restart Forshaw made it 2-0 when he was played through by Jordon King. As the home goalkeeper came out to block the effort, his attempt ricocheted off the Wroxham striker and left him clear on goal. He was able to easily roll the ball it into the empty net.

Finch was next to have a shooting chance but the keeper came out to block with his feet. Almost immediately, Jack Garrod had a diving header flash just wide from a Finch cut back.

Wroxham’s third goal arrived after this sustained pressure finally got the rewards it deserved.

A clearing header by fit-again captain Andy Howell – back in action after sustaining a nasty head injury recently – set Forshaw free and the striker was able to keep his cool to slot the ball past the keeper to make it game over.

Further chances for both teams were scarce as Wroxham saw out the game with little fuss to retain their position in the play-offs.
