Romford started well and found themselves 1-0 up on 18 minutes through Loui Hazelwood’s spot kick after Luis Tibbles was adjudged to have brought down Callum Ibe.
Wroxham responded well – with Nathan Stone and Remy Gordon both spurning good chances to draw level – before the latter finally restored parity on 69 minutes with a well taken effort at the back post.
The away side looked the more likely to go on and take the points, and they seemed destined to do so through Stone’s tap in on 91 minutes.
But Scott’s late heroics stole a point for Romford, leaving Stewart Larter’s men with just one point from a possible six as they continue to press for a play-off berth.
Despite this being one of Wroxham’s best attacking displays of late, their inability to take the chances that came their way was ultimately their downfall in a game where they will feel they really should have taken all three points.
Larter made two changes from the side that lost at Waltham Abbey on Saturday, with Luis Tibbles and Danny Rust replacing Elliot Pride and Ben Price respectively.
The Yachtsmen started brightly, Jamie Forshaw having an effort blocked by the sprightly Aaron Omand on five minutes, before Stone headed wide when unmarked with 14 minutes gone.
It wasn’t all one-way however, with the hosts playing with a confidence that belied their lowly league position, and they were given a chance to take the lead on 17 minutes.
Callum Ibe was picked out by a sublime pass from Abs Seymour, the winger cutting inside the Wroxham area and driving at Tibbles, the Yachtsmen shot-stopper being adjudged to have brought the Romford man down and conceding the penalty.
Hazelwood stepped up and confidently sent Tibbles the wrong way to give his side the lead, and make it successive spot-kicks against The Yachtsmen for two separate teams after notching for Thurrock back in December.
The Yachtsmen needed a response, but they were constantly being harried by an impressive Romford outfit whose confidence was growing by the minute.
Ibe had to be blocked on 23 minutes after bursting past three Wroxham players, before Hazelwood had a golden chance to double both his tally and Romford’s lead three minutes later.
Some industrious play from the midfielder released Robbie Norris down the middle, the Romford man advancing on the Wroxham back four before lofting a delightful ball back in Hazelwood’s path, who could only side-foot wide when he really should have hit the target.
Larter’s men seemed to be getting more and more frustrated as the game flowed towards half time – with a 25 yard effort from Danny White that was comfortably saved the best they could muster – before Stone let a golden chance on 40 minutes slip away.
Forshaw produced the magic, nipping in between two Romford defenders with some quick feet before firing across the box to find Stone at the back post, the striker just unable to react quick enough and the ball bobbled off him and away.
This chance seemed to spur The Yachtsmen on – with chances coming and going either side of the half time whistle – with Gordon being denied by another Omand save on 45 miunutes, before the unusually quiet Christy Finch blazed over the bar on 49 minutes as Wroxham surged for a retort.
This flow was then interrupted as a nasty looking collision brought a lengthy stop to proceedings on 50 minutes, with a clash of heads from Andy Howell and Jamie Byrne resulting in both places being replaced.
Despite the interruption, the away side continued to press in search of an equaliser and they finally got the goal their pressure deserved with 69 minutes gone.
It came in rather fortunate circumstances, with a scuffed effort from the edge of the box finding its way all the way to the back post where Gordon was waiting, the winger having the composure to slot the ball under Omand for his 24th goal of the season.
This was the catalyst Wroxham needed to push on and they began to lay siege to the Romford goal in search of a winner.
White was the first to go close, heading wide on 75 minutes after Gordon’s lovely ball in, before Stone again fluffed his lines, this time at the back post with a well struck effort that hit the post and flew out.
Quick breaks seemed the best outlet for Romford – with the hosts almost scoring from one with three minutes of normal time to go as Tyrone Scarlett chipped wide when clean through – before Stone made amends for his previous misses to give his side the lead as the game ticked into injury time.
Finch found space out wide to beat two men before fizzing the ball across the Romford six-yard box, Stone pulling away to find space and stab home what Wroxham thought was a well deserved winner.
This would not be the case however as Romford responded in style, Scott finding space inside the Wroxham box to send in a well struck half volley to draw his side level with 93 minutes gone.
This wasn’t the end, with both sides having chances to snatch the win at the death.
Romford went first, with Hazelwood finding Dan Jones, who could only fire just wide when well placed, before Omand produced a sublime stop from Remy Gordon two minutes later as the winger raced through one-on-one, only to be denied by the Romford shot-stopper.
And Stone once again had the ball in the net in the final minute - only for it to be scrubbed off for offside – before the referee brought a pulsating game to an end in the 8th minute of stoppage time to leave both sides with a point apiece to show for their efforts.
