The win is The Yachtsmen’s third in a row - with a five game unbeaten run for Stewart Larter’s men that stretches back to early January - although a suspected hamstring injury to Andy Howell that forced the Wroxham skipper off in the first half put a slight downer on the result.
The Yachtsmen started well on a boggy pitch, Kyle Baker carving out the first real opening with a superb solo run from his own half, before finding a cross field ball that found Remy Gordon on the left wing, the midfielder dragging his shot just wide.
Five minutes later they were at it again, a corner from the right finding Danny White, who leapt highest to nod back to top scorer Christy Finch, with his goal bound effort being headed off the line.
This seemed to shake up the home side and they created their first real opening on the half hour mark through Tyrus Gordon-Young, the striker managing to poke an effort past Elliot Pride but not past Stephen Taylor, who managed to get back on the line to clear.
With Thamesmead threatening, Larter’s men needed a response and they got it in the 39th minute as Gordon gave them the lead.
Finch did the hard work, beating Michael Spencer to the ball and cutting into the box before firing across the penalty area to Gordon, who was waiting at the back post to tap in and give Wroxham the lead.
The visitors came out fighting again in the second half and they doubled their lead on 50 minutes, David Hinton collecting a Gordon corner that was cleared before sending in a superb 20 yard chip that deceived everyone and found the back of the net.
Thamesmead went in search of a reply, embarking on a sustained period of pressure on the Wroxham goal, with Danny Rust clearing another effort off the line and Pride producing a stunning one handed save to deny Young’s effort.
And this resistance was rewarded with 10 minutes to go as Finch made sure of the points, benefitting from a defensive error to fire low into the bottom corner from 18 yards to add gloss to the win and keep Wroxham ahead of the chasing pack in the Ryman North play-offs.
