The Yachtsmen found themselves 2-0 up with twenty minutes to go and seemingly in control as two sloppy defensive errors from The Jammers first allowed Jamie Forshaw to slot home, before Remy Gordon capitalized on some more poor defending to double the lead.
But Jack Stevenson’s 86th minute goal gave the hosts hope - with Ollie Berquez heading inches over with seconds to spare in their best chance – but The Yachtsmen held on to bounce back and climb to fourth in the table.
Stewart Larter made three changes to the side that lost against Brentwood, with Steven Taylor, Tim Cary and Jamie Forshaw coming in for Ben Lewis, Danny Self and Jack Garrod.
The away side were applying most of the early pressure, Gordon firing straight at Jack Giddings in goal and Forshaw sending a 20 yard effort just wide.
Maldon’s defence was standing strong to everything Wroxham could throw at them early on, but the away side finally got the breakthrough their persistence deserved as Jamie Forshaw bagged his fifth goal of the season on 21 minutes.
Gordon’s looping cross was miss-controlled by Maldon defender Vinnie Durrant, the ball coming off his shin to fall directly into Forshaw’s path, the ex- AFC Sudbury man making no mistake to bury his effort into the bottom left corner from ten yards for 1-0.
The Yachtsmen continued to control much of the play in the first half – a theme that has become recurrent in their impressive start to the season – but the home side were dangerous on the break, Elliot Pride having to keep his wits about him to palm away Sam Gregory’s effort on 32 minutes.
Giddings then made a good save from Christy Finch’s header as Wroxham pressed for a second, whilst Thomas Hayes missed a golden chance for Maldon down the other end to restore parity with five minutes remaining of the half, the midfielder heading over from under Pride’s crossbar when it seemed easier to score.
Larter’s men maintained the initiative after the break - with Giddings pushing away another shot by Finch - and they spurned a further chance when Forshaw went close minutes later.
The home side were improving as the half wore on, almost equalising when Kyle Asante's shot was hooked over the bar from 12 yards.
However, it was The Yachtsmen who bagged the next goal to assume control of the match on 70 minutes, Danny White’s cross leading to a scramble in the box and some more shambolic defending from the hosts, Gordon getting two bites at the cherry to fire home from eight yards.
However, the hosts weren’t done, Pride making a smart stop at his near post with ten minutes to go to preserve Wroxham’s lead, with the resulting corner flying across the goal mouth begging for a touch that never came.
The home side were pressing for a way back into the game and this pressure finally tolled on Wroxham as some sloppy defending of their own allowed Jack Stevenson to slot home from just inside the box on 86 minutes.
This lead to a nervous final few moments for Larter’s men, with Ollie Berquez almost grabbing a late draw for his side - his header flying inches over the bar in injury time - but The Yachtsmen held on to secure a good away win.
