Both sides started well with half chances apiece, before two goals in three minutes swung the momentum in the home side’s favour.
Jamie Forshaw bagged the first on 19 minutes with a bundled effort, before Remy Gordon fired in a superb second three minutes later to take control of the match.
Finch then made it 3-0 win five minutes to go, before a crazy 60 seconds resulted in a consolation for Thurrock through Robert Clark, before handbags between Nathan Stone and Lewis Clark meant a red card apiece.
Finch then got his second in injury time to complete the win, which is Wroxham’s second in a row in what has been an impressive start to the season by Stewart Larter’s men.
The Yachtsmen named an unchanged side from the one that claimed their first league win of the season against Cheshunt on Saturday, with Danny Rust keeping his starting berth ahead of returning club captain Daniel Self.
The away side started the quicker of the two teams, trying to impose their physical presence on the game from the off.
They were almost in as early as the third minute, Lewis Clark whipping in a dangerous looking ball that deceived the Wroxham defence and found its way to Lamar Reynolds at the back post, the striker taking a touch before scuffing an effort that bobbled past Elliot Pride but not Andy Howell, who cleared the ball with ease on the line.
This seemed to spur Wroxham on, the hosts beginning to get their foot on the ball in the middle of the park.
Jamie Forshaw and Christy Finch were linking up well early on, the latter putting in some sterling work down wide to almost get his strike partner in twice, only for Forshaw to miss the first chance by inches and scuff the second one harmlessly away.
However it didn’t take long for this partnership to prove fruitful, with Forshaw opening his account for The Yachtsmen this season with 19 minutes on the clock.
Some more impressive running from Finch down the left found Forshaw just inside the box, the striker composing himself before picking out a lovely ball to the back post for Danny White to somewhat fortunately head back into the striker’s path, the front man bundling his effort past Andy Walker for 1-0.
And the home side were back at it again three minutes later as they doubled their advantage with a stunning effort from Remy Gordon.
The winger picked up the ball from 25 yards before unleashing an unstoppable effort into the top right corner for his third goal of the season.
The home side were buzzing and looked dangerous every time they advanced, Finch causing problems with his impressive running down the channels and he set up Jack Garrod to almost give Wroxham a third, the striker finding the right winger in the box on the angle only for Andy Walker to tip his dipping volley over the bar.
The away side were showing promise in fits and starts, Bradley Warner stinging the palms of Pride with a fierce 25 yard effort, before Reynolds missed a golden chance to pull one back, flicking his header weakly straight at the Wroxham ‘keeper from six yards out after Daniel Okah’s chipped free kick with 36 minutes gone.
This would prove to be the last chance of the half as the home side kept their lead intact at the interval.
The second half started in a tight manner, with the battle in the middle of the park making for a very compact passage of play.
Matt Halliday did well to block a swerving Ross Wall effort that looked destined to nestle in the far corner, before some slack defending from the home side almost let Thurrock in on 56 minutes.
A quick break allowed Charlie Stimson to loft the ball behind Danny Rust, the left back getting a head to the ball but without enough purchase to let Warner in, the winger placing his effort past both Pride and the post when through on goal.
Gordon was a constant outlet on the right wing and the Wroxham midfielder was at it again with 69 minutes on the clock, sending a devilish ball into the box that beat everybody and drifted just wide of the far post.
This forced Thurrock to crank up the pressure a notch, Stimson almost getting in from Robert Clark’s free kick, the striker heading awkwardly wide of Pride’s left post when on his knees on the six yard line.
The Yachtsmen were soaking up the pressure well and hitting their opponents in the break, Gordon being denied by a superb stop from Walker in goal when through one-on-one, before the Thurrock shot stopper was at it again with six minutes left, denying Finch with another great stop with his legs.
However, Finch would get his revenge 60 seconds later as the striker wrapped the game up for his side, benefitting from a weak punch from Walker to fire home from eight yards.
The game then went into overdrive as it approached injury time, Thurrock first bagging themselves a consolation with Robert Clark’s free kick that went through everyone and into the goal.
However, it was what happened in the aftermath that was grabbed the attention, Nathan Stone and Lewis Clark clashing off the ball in a nasty exchange, with both player’s getting their marching orders in heated fashion.
Finch then found himself a second opportunity as Wroxham broke again in the dying moments, lacing into an empty net to wrap up a deserved win and send Wroxham to seventh in the table.
