Cook serves up a treat

Fakenham Town 0,
Wroxham 4
Norfolk Senior Cup Fourth Round
Tuesday 29th November 2011

Referee : James Turner (Kings Lynn)
Despite narrowing the pitch for the game, Wroxham had too much guile for the hosts and cruised to a 4-0 win at Fakenham in the 4th round of the Senior Cup.
The home side created the first opening of the game as a long range shot from Jake Betts took a deflection for an early corner. Jason Pease’s cross was easily dealt with be the Wroxham defence.
Immediately The Yachtsmen broke to the other end and gained a corner themselves which resulted in the opening goal in the 4th minute scored by Paul Cousins. Shaun Howe’s in swinging corner fell perfectly for the former Ghost to head home.
Fakenham started to get more in the game without causing any serious problems for Scott Howie in the Wroxham goal. Cousins limped off after 24 mins to be replaced by Josh Carus.
Soon after a free-kick from Danny Self almost curled in at the far post as Wroxham applied more pressure. A cross from Ben Thompson found Andy Eastaugh whose header was turned round by Tom Rix.
Two minutes before the break, Wroxham added a second when Danny Self set Ross Durrant away on the right and he whipped in a cross which Rix fumbled allowing Paul Cook to tap in at the near post.
Thompson who had earlier taken a heavy knock was then replaced by Gavin Lemmon.
HT Fakenham Town 0 Wroxham 2Wroxham had an early chance in the second period when Cook crossed for Hinton who had time but skied his shot way over.
Durrant was fouled on the edge of the area and Shaun Howes shot skimmed the bar as Wroxham started buzzing and were really stretching the home side with their incisive attacks.
Hinton was withdrawn to be replaced by Damian Hilton who was soon involved as his shot was blocked by Rix but Cook was on hand to tap in the loose ball for Wroxham’s third on 68 mins.
The visitors scored again on 73 mins when Matty Daniels won the ball in midfield to set up Cook and the striker hit a blistering shot in the top corner for his hat-trick.
Then Cook was hauled down and referee Turner awarded a penalty but Hilton’s weak shot was easily saved by Rix.
Wroxham continued to dominate proceedings with other chances to add to the lead but there was no further score as The Yachtsmen sailed through to the Quarter-final.
