Joe Marsden set the ball rolling in the 15th minute, converting his 10th penalty of the season after Jack Guyton was felled in the box.
Some superb running from Ross Durrant then made it 2-0, the striker robbing Ryan Clarke to set up Jack Guyton for a simple finish after 53 minutes.
The visitors threatened a mini-comeback when Massiah McDonald tapped in from David Bell’s deflected free kick, before Durrant made it 3-1 with five minutes remaining after tapping in from Marsden’s quick corner.
Sam Mulready made it nervy at the end when he flicked in David Bell’s injury time free kick, but The Yachtsmen held on for a memorable – and well deserved – victory.
The Yachtsmen were superb from start to finish, with their higher league opposition unable to cope with their fast flowing attack, and some stout defending at the end other end seeing them home.
Wroxham made four changes from the side that lost to VCD on Saturday, with Stephen Drake, Danny Rust, Jack Guyton and Jordan King all starting for The Yachtsmen.
Kings Lynn were the early aggressors with some good possession, but Wroxham created the two best chances of a tight opening 10 minutes, both of which being manufactured by Ross Durrant.
The forward whipped an 8th minute corner right on to the top of Joe Marsden’s head, who used the pace on the ball to send it flying inches over.
Durrant then won possession in the Kings Lynn half 60 seconds later to spark a promising counter attack, sending in a ferocious 20 yard drive that Ashley Timms tipped over the bar.
Some great last ditch defending from Danny Rust denied the visitors as they looked to stem the Wroxham flow, before some superb running from Joe Marsden committed the Lynn defence, Jack Guyton benefitting from the right back’s cross to nick that ball past Ryan Fryatt and win his side a penalty.
Marsden sent Timms the wrong way, slotting the ball into the bottom right corner to continue his perfect record from the spot this season and give his side a 1-0 lead with 15 minutes on the clock.
The home side were on top, with Remy Gordon’s running down the left wing a constant thorn in The Linnet’s side.
The winger flashed an inviting ball across after a neat one-two with Rust that Guyton just missed despite his best efforts, before Daniel Self’s 21st minute header forced Timms into a smart stop from Gordon’s corner.
Jake Jones was quiet for the visitors, before a moment of magic from the young winger almost got his side back in the game.
He picked the ball up on the right after 30 minutes, dancing his way past three Wroxham defenders before dragging his shot from the edge of the box just wide.
This seemed to inspire Kings Lynn as they pressed up higher and were having better possession than the hosts, George Thomson flashing another long range effort just wide five minutes later.
Ross Durrant then sent a 25 yard strike that went deceptively close to finding the top corner with three minutes remaining of the half, but 1-0 was how it stayed as the teams entered the interval.
Durrant was in on the act early in the second half and he missed a great chance to make it 2-0 on 49 minutes.
Gordon was again the maestro, finding space to lay a lovely weighted ball into the striker’s path, who rounded Timms but sliced his effort wide when off balance.
However, he made amends four minutes later as some great chasing down set up Guyton to make it 2-0.
Durrant ran down an apparent lost cause in the right corner of Lynn’s half, robbing Ryan Clarke to reach the byline and fire in a ball with the outside of his boot that Timms spilt straight into Guyton path, the young midfielder duly tucking the ball into the back of the net to double Wroxham’s lead.
The visitors were beginning to get frustrated, Massiah McDonald lucky to escape a second yellow card for throwing the ball Marsden in a heated exchange.
Sam Mulready lifted a 59th minute header just over the bar from David Bell’s ball in, with Gordon unlucky not to find a team mate five minutes later as he burst down the right hand side for Wroxham.
Kings Lynn were then found screaming for a penalty on 68 minutes as they searched valiantly for a way back into the tie, Robert Juhasz seemingly downing Dan Quigley as the Lynn number eight challenged with the Wroxham ‘keeper for a bouncing ball that wasn’t given.
As the game entered the last 15 it was beginning to become a game of attack vs defence, with the visitors spending most of their time in the Wroxham half with some assertive pressure.
And this pressure paid off as they found a way back – somewhat fortunately – into the game.
David Bell’s 77th minute free kick deflected off the Wroxham wall, Juhasz adjusting well to get a good hand on it, only for McDonald to react first to tap in the rebound from two yards.
McDonald was menacing, drifting in from the left four minutes later to find space for a shot that he dragged just wide of the near post.
But any signs of a comeback were soon quashed as Durrant got the goal his play deserved with five minutes remaining.
The ever-willing Marsden benefitted from a short corner to weave into the box, drilling the ball across to present Durrant with the simplest of tap ins from under the bar.
Kings Lynn weren’t done though, with Sam Mulready flicking a header onto the post in the last minute, before doing one better in injury time to make for a nervy ending, the forward flicking in Bell’s free kick with seconds left on the clock.
There was still time for Sam Harty to strike the bar with a sublime 25 yard effort, with Lynn breaking down the other end only for their attack to be dispelled as Wroxham held on for a memorable victory.
