The Yachtswomen made two changes to their starting line-up from last week’s game against Bedford, with Fullbrook and Birchall replacing Armstrong and Brister. Parker returned to the bench joined by George, Robb and Gardiner-Banks.

Despite enjoying the early pressure, it was the visitors who had the first effort on goal, a long shot which was saved by Fullbrook. At the other end, a through ball from Cooper saw Birchall shoot just wide of the post.

Play was end to end. Bowers forced a corner which was only half-cleared by the Wroxham defence and the return shot was just wide of the post, before Birchall won a corner from an attack down the right flank, only to be penalised for a foul from the set-piece.

Bowers came the closest to scoring midway through the half with a shot that crashed against the crossbar before Fullbrook was able to save the follow up.

Birchall and Bullard’s pace was troubling the visitors and balls played beyond the defenders were chased down but neither player was able to convert the chances created. The half ended with neither side unable to break the stalemate.

The second half saw the hosts stat the brighter of the two sides. Scully put Bullard clear but her shot was wide of the target before Birchall was flagged offside chasing a through ball. Bowers main threat was coming from corners, but Robson was clearing with powerful headers.

Birchall thought she had given the Yachtswomen the lead with 15 minutes remaining only to be denied by the assistant referees flag in a very tight decision.

The home side continued to push forward looking for the opening goal. Birchall shot wide as time was running out, however, in the 3rd minute of added time, Russell was brough down 25 yards out on front of goal and Parker fired the free-kick into the top corner, to give Wroxham the points and move them up to 4th in the league table.
