Dunstable, who drew 0-0 at the end of March with Wymondham Town, had very few chances and needed a second half penalty to register a goal.
Dunstable had two changes to the starting line-up that Wroxham faced on 20th March. Brooke Hudson and Mollie Burgess (who was named as a substitute) were replaced by Rebecca Devereux and Darcy Collins. Wroxham made two changes from the victory last week at Colney Heath – Rosie George and Alice Parker made way for Charlotte Gardiner-Banks and Grace Birchall.
With Trafford Park unavailable because of work to the pitch ahead of next season, the match was played on the artificial pitch at the FDC on Salhouse Road. Despite the change of venue, a reasonable number of followers were in attendance. The problem of Dunstable coming in their blue home kit was overcome by them wearing bibs over their shirts.
Wroxham were the superior team from the start. Two minutes in, Birchall was sent down the right forcing a defender to clear. This superiority was punctuated by a rare Dunstable attack with a shot comfortably clutched from the air by Cyan Fulbrook. Interplay on the left between Bullard and Holly Walker produced a cross for Birchall that goalkeeper Raffermati intercepted. Although Wroxham were playing good passes along the ground, the first goal after 10 minutes came from Brogan Scully’s punt up field from midway in Wroxham’s half. Bullard tore through Dunstable’s defence and chipped the ball over the advancing Raffermati.
A move from defence involving Robson, Bullard and Walker came to an end when Wroxham were flagged off-side. Another move that involved passes between Robson, Russell, Bullard and Gardiner-Banks put Gracie Squire through one-on-one with Raffermati who blocked the shot. A Robson pass to Birchall on the half-way line set Hope Strauss down the left who was flagged off-side. After 20 minutes Wroxham thought it was 2-0. A Scully pass to Squire was knocked on to Bullard to tap home but was flagged off-side. However, Wroxham didn’t have to wait long. Four minutes later a pass from Strauss gave Birchall the opportunity to run from just inside Dunstable’s half up and across the pitch to lay the ball into the path of Russell to tap home from 6 yards.
A minute later it seemed that Wroxham had scored a third – Scully’s pass found Birchall whose shot was narrowly wide. Later in the half a Birchall pass from left side of midfield was put into space for Bullard to run onto whose shot struck the far post and was cleared for a corner. After 40 minutes, Wroxham made it three when Bullard lobbed a pass from Zoe Cossey over Raffermati.

Three minutes in Bullard crossed to Rhianne Brister who lobbed Raffermati but Brister couldn’t catch up with the ball before it went wide. After that Cossey had a shot that went for a corner, Birchall headed goalward a free-kick taken by Strauss from within the centre-circle, and Bullard shot wide a pass from Birchall.
Dunstable first attack of the half was a counterattack down their left. The attacker drifted into the area and Fulbrook blocked the shot, but the referee saw a foul on the opponent by a Wroxham defender. Fulbrook dived left but the ball was placed in the opposite corner.
Wroxham were unfazed. 19 minutes in, a Russell pass split two defenders putting Bullard through whose shot was blocked by Raffermati. A further two attacks required Raffermati to come to the edge of the area to gather the ball and later to clear it.
Dunstable’s second chance of the half came from a free-kick - Fulbrook tipped the shot onto the bar and the on rushing forward headed the rebound over the bar. The resulting goal kick saw a flowing move ending with Brister passing to Cossey who shot wide.
Wroxham had three more shots before making it 4-1 in the 88th minute. A Dunstable goal kick was volleyed back diagonally from the right side of Wroxham’s midfield. Birchall homed in on the ball and took it across the six-yard box before slotting home.
